Episode 6 recap: Su Nian actively invited Xing Yi.
Ling Xi served Su Nian and dressed her up, praising Su Nian's beauty that no man could refuse, and remarking that even though she had spared Xing Yi in the past, he could still be of great use to her in the future. At the same time, Xing Yi received a letter from Su Nian of the Star Moon Pavilion, asking him to come for a visit. Yue Ling was worried that Xing Yi would get into trouble, so she followed closely behind him.
The Northern King was practicing swordsmanship in his mansion. Lin Mu reported to him that Yue Ling and her brother had gone out again, but the secret guard Nie Chen was following them closely. Just as he finished speaking, Gao Luo Yi came to the mansion, pestering the Northern King and believing that the king was distancing himself from her to marry Princess Dongyu. Lin Mu lied and said the Northern King needed to go to the palace, helping the king get away.
Yue Ling caught up to Xing Yi and tried to persuade him not to trouble Su Nian, but Xing Yi believed it was Su Nian who wanted to trouble him. As they were talking, they saw someone selling female slaves from Dongyu. The commoners were cursing the Dongyuers as ungrateful. Yue Ling had the slave seller release the woman, leading to a conflict, and they were both arrested and thrown in jail.
The slave woman Ran Yun thanked them for standing up for her. Yue Ling didn't realize how difficult life was for the Dongyuers in the capital. Ran Yun told them that in the Northern Kingdom, the Dongyuers were considered lowly commoners, with different social classes - criminals and their families were in the lowest class, entertainers in brothels were in the entertainment class, and those without private property who still did labor work were in the slave class. All these were considered the lowly classes.
Yue Ling was shocked to learn that people were so stratified in the Northern Kingdom. Gao Luo Yi was delighted to hear that the Dongyu Princess had been arrested. The alert Yue Ling and Xing Yi kicked the coachman off the carriage, and Zhou Shiyu arrived in time. Lin Mu's interrogation revealed the coachman had been acting on Gao Luo Yi's orders.
Yue Ling and her brother were rescued from prison, and they wanted to leave with Ran Yun, but due to the laws of Bei Shuo, Yue Ling and her brother had to watch helplessly as Ran Yun was taken back by her master's family. Yue Ling and her brother got on a carriage to return home, but the carriage was headed in the wrong direction. They realized the danger and the driver, who was in disguise, pulled out a dagger to attack them. At a critical moment, Zhou Shi Yu arrived to help, but he was outnumbered. Yue Ling was stabbed and killed, and seeing this, Zhou Shi Yu committed suicide by sword. However, with the protection of their jade pendant, the two were revived.
Zhou Shi Yu gathered his men and went to Ten Mile Hill to deal with the assassins, eventually finding out that they were arranged by Gao Luo Yi. After dealing with the assassins, Zhou Shi Yu returned to the manor and was relieved to see that Yue Ling was unharmed. Yue Ling was saddened by the difficult lives of the women of Dong Yu Kingdom in Bei Shuo and was determined to save them.
Zhou Shi Yu questioned Gao Luo Yi about the plot to assassinate the princess. At first, the princess denied it, but when the truth was revealed, she stopped denying it. Zhou Shi Yu directly arranged for Princess Gao Luo Yi to be sent back to the imperial palace.
Ling Xi reported to Su Nian that Yue Ling and her brother had been brought back to the manor. Su Nian was curious about their identities and decided to approach Xing Yi first, so he had Ling Xi invite Xing Yi.
Meanwhile, Zhou Jing Yuan was angry about the failed assassination and wanted to punish his subordinate Lin Su. Xing Yi had a dream about Zhou Shi Yu sacrificing himself for Yue Ling, and Qian Qian believed that Yue Ling had already been betrothed to the Northern Prince, so the news of her romantic involvement with a guard could not be leaked.
Soon after, Lin Mu came to deliver a message that Zhou Shi Yu wanted to meet the princess in the suburbs.
