Episode 17 recap: Guo Jing and Huang Rong were trapped on the Jin people's ship.
Ouyang Feng came to find Guo Jing, but Guo Jing's Nine Yin Manual was obscure and difficult for Ouyang Feng to understand, making him suspect that Guo Jing had given him a fake manual. Zhou Botong appeared to protect Hong Qigong and the others. Ouyang Feng knew they could not kill Guo Jing and the others with Zhou Botong there, so he simply had Wan YanHong Lie agree to let them leave.
Wan YanHong Lie wanted Ouyang Feng to help seize the "Legacy of Wumu", but Ouyang Feng was now focused on finding a doctor to treat Ouyang Ke's broken leg. Wan Yanong Lie promised that once they obtained the "Legacy of Wumu" and the Great Jin unified the world, Ouyang Feng could easily get the Nine Yin Manual or find renowned doctors.
Tempted by this, Ouyang Feng agreed to Wan Yanong Lie's request. Ouyang Feng came to find Hong Qigong and the others, saying Guo Jing's Nine Yin Manual was obscure and he suspected it was fake.
Facing Ouyang Feng's threat, Huang Rong said much of the Nine Yin Manual was not in Central Plains language, but in Tocharian. To get Huang Rong to help translate the text, Ouyang Feng agreed to provide food and care for Hong Qigong and the others.
Mu Nianci secretly came to the cabin and released Huang Rong and the others. She had them board a small boat to leave, but Guo Jing and the others had not yet departed when they were surrounded by the Jin people. Wan Yanong Lie wanted to have them killed, but the old mischievous Zhou Botong descended from the sky to rescue Guo Jing and the others. It turned out Zhou Botong had fallen into the sea earlier and drifted for days before finding Huang Rong's ship, which is how he survived.
The people around Wan Yanong Lie did not take Zhou Botong seriously at first, but discovered his formidable martial arts skills. Ouyang Feng also revealed that Zhou Botong was the disciple of Wang Chongyang, causing Wan Yanong Lie to let their group leave.
Guo Jing was worried that Mu Nianci releasing them would bring her trouble, but Huang Rong said she did not worry about Yang Kang siding with the Jin, as she believed Yang Kang was devoted to Mu Nianci, so Mu Nianci would be safe.
Huang Rong originally wanted to return the Fiend-Hunting Staff and refuse to succeed as the leader of the Beggar Sect. Now, Hong Qi Gong is safe and sound, and his martial arts skills are gradually recovering. He took on this task in a time of crisis. Hong Qi Gong stated that Huang Rong is the smartest and least greedy person he has ever seen in his life. Huang Rong's composure in the face of changes makes her a person of great wisdom, so he wants to pass the position of sect leader to her no matter when or where.
Wan Yan Hong Lie wants Ou Yang Feng to take Yang Kang as his disciple, citing that Yang Kang learned martial arts from a young age but did not encounter any famous masters. However, Ou Yang Feng stated that the martial arts of the White Camel Mountain have been passed down in succession, and he has already passed his skills on to Ou Yang Ke, so he cannot take on another disciple.
Huang Yao Shi came to Wan Yan Hong Lie's ship to look for his daughter Huang Rong. Ou Yang Feng lied and claimed that he had never encountered Huang Rong, but Wan Yan Hong Lie's men said that they had encountered a floating corpse at sea three days ago, and the description matched Huang Rong and Guo Jing's group.
Hong Qi Gong regretted that in his life he had never been able to eat the imperial dish of Mandarin duck and five treasures at the palace. He had hidden in the palace for three months but was unable to fulfill his wish. Now that the Song and other parties are about to form an alliance, an important diplomatic envoy meeting may prompt the palace to serve this dish, so Hong Qi Gong and Huang Rong plan to go to the palace to try it.
Huang Rong discovered that Zhou Bo Tong had secretly taken her Fiend-Hunting Staff. She caught up to Zhou Bo Tong and took back the staff, also blaming him for causing Huang Yao Shi to misunderstand Guo Jing, leading to the two being unable to be together.
Now that Hong Qi Gong's injuries have not fully healed, Huang Rong wants Zhou Bo Tong to escort them to sneak into the palace and steal the Mandarin duck and five treasures dish. Zhou Bo Tong is worried that this will ruin Huang Rong's reputation in the rivers and lakes, but ultimately agrees to Huang Rong's request.
Huang Yao Shi believes that his daughter died by drowning to sacrifice herself for Guo Jing. He misdirected his anger towards the Seven Freaks of the South, sending a message to Lu Cheng Feng to have them eliminated. Lu Cheng Feng knows this is Huang Yao Shi's order made in anger, and instructs Lu Guan Ying to quickly find the Seven Freaks and inform them, hoping they will go to the desert to avoid the spotlight for a while.
Guo Jing and Huang Rong's group arrived at the Ox Village. They found an abandoned inn to rest temporarily. Zhou Bo Tong believes the inn is haunted and wants to leave, but Huang Rong searches the inn and discovers Sha Gu, to her surprise, who knows the martial arts of Peach Blossom Island.
Huang Rong deliberately plays a hiding game with Sha Gu and discovers a hidden room in the inn, which contains many skeletons. Huang Rong also finds the skeleton of Qu Lingfeng in the hidden room, and surmises that Qu Lingfeng had been collecting treasures in hopes of one day returning to Peach Blossom Island and regaining his master's favor, but was killed for the treasures.
