Episode 3 recap: Guo Jing accidentally ingested snake blood but was unharmed by the hundred poisons.
Guo Jing and Huang Rong secretly followed Genghis Khan after he was released from prison, and discovered that he went to visit the Princess. The Princess inquired about the archery contest, and Genghis Khan reported that he had summoned the Mu family back to the palace and had them well accommodated. The Princess instructed her son to properly apologize, and also warned him not to misbehave outside again.
The Princess wanted to personally go apologize to the Mu family, but Genghis Khan made excuses to refuse. Huang Rong kidnapped the manor steward, deliberately injured him, and had him seek out Prince Genghis Khan to request medicine. Huang Rong then had Guo Jing follow the steward to retrieve the medicine, while she stayed behind to eavesdrop on the conversations in the manor.
Prince Genghis Khan of the Jin Dynasty appeared and discussed plans with the martial artists of the manor. It was widely known that the Jin had been defeated by Yue Fei in the past. Now Genghis Khan wanted to perform a great deed for the Emperor by obtaining Yue Fei's military treatise "The Legacy of the Marquis of Wu."
Guo Jing followed the steward to retrieve the medicine, but was recognized by the servant and locked in the medicinal herb room. The large snake that Liang Ziweng kept in the room sensed the intruder and attacked Guo Jing, who was forced to drink all the snake's blood to survive.
Liang Ziweng, distraught to find his prized snake dead, reported the intruder to the servants. Huang Rong rushed to rescue Guo Jing but was ambushed, revealing her identity as a member of the Peach Blossom Island clan. The attackers, fearing Huang Yaoshi's wrath, decided to kill Huang Rong.
Guo Jing rushed to the prison to try to rescue the Mu family, and was surprised to learn that the Mu daughter knew he was the son of his old friend Guo Xiaofu. Guo Jing wanted to take the Mu family away, but the Mu father insisted on staying behind to demand justice for his daughter. At the same time, the Princess arrived at the prison and ordered the Mu family to be released.
The junior patriarch of the White Camel Mountain Manor, Ouyang Ke, appeared at the royal manor and rescued the trapped Huang Rong. It turned out that Ouyang Ke had also been invited by Prince Genghis Khan. At Ouyang Ke's request, Genghis Khan handed Huang Rong over to him.
Guo Jing was searching for Huang Rong in the manor when he unexpectedly encountered the Four Demons of the Yellow River, who attacked him. But the strengthened Guo Jing, after drinking the snake's blood, easily defeated the four of them.
Liang Ziweng, distraught over the loss of his prized snake, wanted to absorb Guo Jing's blood. Ouyang Ke was attracted by Huang Rong's beauty and wanted to take her under his wing, but the clever Huang Rong was able to fend him off, further piquing his interest.
Guo Jing accidentally stumbled into the Princess's private courtyard while evading Liang Ziweng. Prince Genghis Khan, worried that a thief had infiltrated the manor and could threaten the Princess, came to check on her. It was revealed that years ago, Genghis Khan, then the Imperial Historian, was wounded by Qiu Chuji, and hid in Niujiazhuang, where he was rescued by Bao Xiruo. He had grown fond of Bao Xiruo, and secretly arranged for Yang Tiexin and Guo Xiaofu's family to be ambushed, so he could spirit Bao Xiruo away, telling her that her husband had been killed by the soldiers.
Genghis Khan was puzzled that even after 18 years, Bao Xiruo still could not forget Yang Tiexin. He agreed to Bao Xiruo's request to visit Niujiazhuang, her former home.
