Episode 8 recap: Qiu Qian and Renguo Jing engaged in a fierce battle.
Yang Kang was ambushed and mistaken for a Jin dynasty spy. Guo Jing wanted to go explain to Lord Lu that Yang Kang was not a Jin spy, but Huang Rong thought that rescuing the two of them would make them appear to be Jin accomplices. Guo Jing believed Yang Kang was being used by others and did not want Mu Nian Ci to have lifelong regrets, so he ultimately agreed with Huang Rong's suggestion to wait for the right opportunity to rescue him.
Lu Guan Ying led people to capture the Jin spy Yang Kang. Guo Jing secretly discovered the captive was Yang Kang and wanted to explain to Lu Guan Ying that Yang Kang was not a Jin spy, believing he had been used by the Jin.
Huang Rong said they did not know enough about Lord Lu to act rashly, so they decided to observe the situation and wait for the right time to rescue him. When Yang Kang was brought before Lord Lu Cheng Feng, he mocked the men who captured him as small-minded. Provoked by Yang Kang's words, Lu Guan Ying decided to have a one-on-one duel with him, but Yang Kang defeated him with the Nine Yin White Bone Claw. Seeing Yang Kang's arrogance in the manor, Lu Cheng Feng came out and disciplined him.
Lu Cheng Feng asked Yang Kang about the Black Wind Demon Pair, but Yang Kang did not answer. Lu Cheng Feng then had Yang Kang temporarily imprisoned in the manor. When Mei Chao Feng was trapped in the snake formation and in danger, the Black Patriarch's flute suddenly broke through the formation, allowing Mei Chao Feng to escape.
The Guiyun Manor received a threat regarding a skull, and Lu Cheng Feng believed this was a demonstration by the Shuangshuang (Twin Vultures). He had Lu Guan Ying and his mother go stay temporarily in the northern manor in Wuxi City, while he wanted to stay behind to understand the long-standing grudge. Lu Cheng Feng did not want to involve Guo Jing and Huang Rong, so he sent the two of them away from Guiyun Manor.
At the time of their departure, Lu Cheng Feng also gifted Huang Rong with gold and longevity-enhancing medicine as a parting gift. Just then, the Iron Palm Qiu Qian Ren, who could walk on water, learned that Guiyun Manor was in trouble and came to help. Qiu Qian Ren believed the Jin army would soon be heading south, and to avoid a bloody battle, he suggested that Lu Cheng Feng release the Jin prince, then gather heroes to make the Song emperor understand their superior strength, forcing him to surrender without a fight, which would spare the common people from the suffering of war.
Huang Rong mocked Qiu Qian Ren for his narrow-minded selfishness and shameless behavior. Guo Jing tested Qiu Qian Ren's skills and concluded that he only knew some superficial techniques. Seeing that he was no match, Qiu Qian Ren tried to escape, but at that moment Mei Chao Feng arrived at Guiyun Manor.
Mei Chao Feng realized the Seven Freaks were at Guiyun Manor and decided to take revenge by fighting them alone. Huang Rong took the opportunity to capture the fleeing Qiu Qian Ren, and from him learned that Huang Yaoshi had been killed by the Seven True Taoists.
