Episode 13 recap: Qi Lin and Chu Yun joined forces to rescue Lin Mengqiu.
Mengqiu was harassed, and she struggled desperately to break free from the clutches of her tormentor before reporting it to the police. Mengqiu was threatened and intimidated, and feeling she had no other choice, she wanted to jump into the river to commit suicide. Qi Lin arrived just in time to save her. Lin Mengqiu worked odd jobs around the clock to pay off her debts, delivering food and working as a driver. One late night, while driving a drunken client home, the client made advances on her. Mengqiu fought hard, trying to call the police, but her phone was dead and the electric bike she was riding also had no power. With no one around, the man raped her.
Boss Feige gave Fang Qiang a lot of alcohol, and the despondent Fang Qiang soon drank himself into oblivion. Feige arranged for someone to bring Fang Qiang to him the next day. On her way home, Lin Mengqiu told Lü Wenweng about the previous night's ordeal, and Wenweng expressed deep sympathy for her.

Cornered, Lin Mengqiu stands on the Fengze Bay Bridge, intending to jump into the river to commit suicide. Chu Yun is notified by the police and gathers her colleagues from the execution court to the scene. Qi Lin persuades Lin Mengqiu earnestly, and Chu Yun quietly approaches her from the other side. Just as Lin Mengqiu is about to jump, Chu Yun swiftly saves her.
Ou Yang Lu Lu deeply sympathizes with Lin Mengqiu's plight and feels that the court's forced execution drove her to suicide. Ou Yang Lu Lu is deeply troubled and even considers paying off Lin Mengqiu's debt herself. Ye Xuan advises her not to act on emotion and explains the facts to her, but she refuses to listen. Ye Xuan clearly states that the execution department has to collect over 100 million in debt each year, and if everyone acted like Ou Yang Lu Lu, their work would be impossible to carry out. Ou Yang Lu Lu accuses Ye Xuan of being too heartless.
