Episode 15 recap: Shen Congwen learned that the codename "Wild Grass" was part of a special squad.
Li Shao Tang reported to Shen Congwen that he confirmed the communist agent known as "Wild Grass" was indeed in the 810 Special Squad, as Wang Yun Jie had learned about 810's intel ahead of him. Shen Congwen was delighted, as he felt he could finally earn merit after years of painstaking efforts to catch "Wild Grass". He approved of Li Shao Tang's contribution.
Shen Congwen wanted to eliminate "Wild Grass". He instructed Li Shao Tang to continue feeding intel to Wang Yun Jie, so they could capture him. The Military Statistics Bureau traced the telegram address of "Wild Grass", and Shen Congwen called a meeting.
Wang Qiu Shui met with Wang Yun Jie and relayed the intel from Qin Mo Qing - the Military Statistics Bureau had located the 810 squad, and among the rescued detainees were 22 communists who would be secretly detained and interrogated.
Wang Yun Jie naively believed that based on the National Government's declaration, Dai Li would surely release the prisoners. Wang Qiu Shui felt the Military Statistics Bureau was concealing this information for ulterior motives. Wang Yun Jie proposed informing the Chinese army on the Yunnan border.
Wang Qiu Shui moved the radio transmitter, saying it was now exposed and couldn't be used for now. Wang Yun Jie found a way to send the telegram, asking his assistant "Little Luo" to execute it. Learning that the Military Statistics Bureau had handed biological warfare intel to Li Shao Tang, Wang Yun Jie rushed to verify the situation.
Wang Yun Jie urgently summoned Li Shao Tang, who understood and promised to forward the biological warfare intel to the communists. Li Shao Tang also provided the route map received from the Expeditionary Force, requesting Wang Yun Jie's organization to quickly rescue their comrades accordingly.
Wang Yun Jie was deeply grateful, memorized the route, and burned the map. He and "Little Luo" moved separately to send the intel to their organization, and Wang Qiu Shui supported them, believing the information matched what "Wild Grass" had provided, and the risk of exposure had already been taken.
The Military Statistics Bureau detected the telegram activity of "Wild Grass" but couldn't pinpoint the location in time. Li Shao Tang convinced Shen Congwen that "Wild Grass" was indeed in the Special Squad, and Shen Congwen secretly smiled, knowing Wang Yun Jie had fully trusted Li Shao Tang, allowing him to continue providing valuable intel.
Shen Congwen received a telegram suspecting there were communist spies in the Chongqing station, so he called a meeting to urge everyone to watch their words. Learning that the communists were launching a rescue operation on the Yunnan border, he planned to trap them and also shift the border conflict towards the communists. Wen Yi Shan argued that the war against Japan was not yet won, so there was no need to eliminate the guerrillas, as the communists could also help the National Army against the Japanese.
Shen Cong Wu took out the name list and mentioned the code name "wild grass", ostensibly to ambush the Communist party, but in reality he wanted to catch the "wild grass" who was actually working for the Nationalist Military Police (Military Statistics Bureau). He suspected that the "wild grass" had been embedded in the organization for three years, with a professional team and a powerful superior.
Lai Jun Sheng called Wang Qiu Shui and used coded language to remind her to quickly return the dry batteries, otherwise there would be a risk of exposure.
Shen Cong Wu required Wei Qing Ming and the others to cooperate, and to implement an "outer slack, inner tight" policy towards the group members in order to catch the "wild grass". Qin Mo Qing kept an eye on the phone but couldn't find an opportunity to make a call out.
Wei Qing Ming and Wen Yi Shan thought Li Shao Tang was not an ordinary technician. Feng Yu Nian was anxious, wishing he had known about the "wild grass" earlier, so there would have been no need to install the wiretap.
Wei Qing Ming mentioned one page was missing from the file, making Wen Yi Shan and Feng Yu Nian ponder whether Dai Li had already made arrangements. Feng Yu Nian kept bringing up Wen Yi Shan's apprentice as a spy, almost pushing Wen Yi Shan to the brink.
Qin Mo Qing wanted to deliver documents to Li Shao Tang, but Ou Xiao An stopped her. Ou Xiao An suspected Shen Cong Wu had not found the "810", but Wen Yi Shan felt this was just his speculation. Wen Yi Shan mentioned the "wild grass" to probe Ou Xiao An, but Ou Xiao An had not heard of it before.
Li Shao Tang deliberately acted in front of the "wild grass" to make them anxious to take action. Qin Mo Qing originally wanted to go out to deliver intelligence, but was stopped by Ou Xiao An. They pretended to go find Lu Si for treatment.
Shen Cong Wu waited for the "wild grass" to expose themselves, knowing the Communist party had a fearless spirit. Ou Xiao An knew someone was watching them and pretended to help cover for Qin Mo Qing.
Qin Mo Qing originally wanted to inject and knock out Ou Xiao An, but Ou Xiao An noticed and injected her instead. Ou Xiao An took the intelligence and had a newspaper boy deliver it to Wang Yun Jie, telling him that Li Shao Tang had defected.
Wang Yun Jie had a boy make a call to distract the surveillance, then went to find Wang Qiu Shui alone. Wang Qiu Shui saw the handwriting on the intelligence and decided to believe it, telling Wang Yun Jie to evacuate from Ji Shi Tang. But Wang Yun Jie suspected it was a trap by the Nationalist Military Police, and was still worried about Li Shao Tang's safety.
