Episode 33 recap: Miao Jiang Poisoned by Toxic Gas
In Episode 33, Li Shao Tang sent an invitation to Shen Cong Wu, saying that his wedding would be the day after tomorrow. Shen Cong Wu obtained information about the Falling Cherry Blossom plan, and Li Shao Tang confirmed it was real, but felt the information was incomplete, so he asked Shen Cong Wu to find Da Qiao to fill in the gaps. Li Shao Tang also suggested they could clean out the people within the organization, using Ye Xuan Min as bait to lure out the communists.
Recently, food supplies have been very tight, and the imprisoned inmates have had nothing to eat, with some even starving to death. But Miao Jiang didn't care at all, and told her subordinates not to let this news leak out. Hezhi brought Miao Jiang a batch of tear gas grenades and asked her to use the inmates as test subjects. Miao Jiang had her men bring the grenades into the school, claiming it was Wei Qing Ming's idea.
Miao Jiang gathered the inmates on the playground and placed the tear gas grenades among them, with she and her men wearing protective masks. Just as she was about to test the grenades, Miao Jiang hesitated and left two inmates behind, also reducing the dosage of the grenades. When the grenades were released, the two remaining inmates struggled to breathe and were in great distress.
Miao Jiang went to check on them, and found one was still alive, planning to take him back to try to save him. But unexpectedly, the inmate suddenly ripped off Miao Jiang's mask, causing her to inhale the toxic gas. Miao Jiang immediately had difficulty breathing and felt weak all over.
Zeng Ji Wu came to Shen Cong Wu with gold bars, saying it was his way of wanting to continue serving the party and country by defecting to Shen Cong Wu. Shen Cong Wu was still unsure about him, so he asked Zeng Ji Wu to follow Li Shao Tang's lead first, which Zeng Ji Wu understood was a test.
During a meeting at the organization, Shen Cong Wu noticed that Ou Xiao An and Miao Jiang were absent. He then deliberately mentioned wanting to send Ye Xuan Min back to Yan'an, knowing that Wei Qing Ming and Wen Yi Shan had been keeping this information from Feng Yu Nian. Shen Cong Wu wanted the people in the organization to volunteer to escort Ye Xuan Min, so they could use that opportunity to infiltrate and gather intelligence in Yan'an.
He called this plan the "Termite Plan" and put Li Shao Tang in full charge of it.
Li Da Chun came out of the casino and saw the news about Li Shao Tang's wedding in the newspaper, so he stopped Feng Yu Nian's car and claimed to be Li Shao Tang's biological brother.
Feng Yu Nian then kept him there for questioning, and found out that Li Shao Tang's birth father was Japanese, and that he and Li Da Chun were half-brothers, and that Li Shao Tang's real name was Asano Aohiko. Li Da Chun then used Li Shao Tang's identity to threaten Feng Yu Nian, wanting to get some money from him.
Feng Yu Nian first pacified Li Da Chun and promised to send the money to Xian Bridge Cave the next evening.
Feng Yu Nian went home to have dinner with Li Shao Tang, wanting to probe his intentions, but instead found out that Feng Jing Xian was pregnant. Feng Yu Nian then told Li Shao Tang about the "Termite Plan", knowing that it was Li Shao Tang's idea.
Li Shao Tang planned to dispatch Ou Xiao An and Qin Mo Qing to carry out this plan.
Miao Jiang wanted to go find Hezi to get the antidote, but saw the Military Statistics Bureau agents on the way. Ou Xiao An was very suspicious of the mole announcement posted internally, and told Qin Mo Qing not to act rashly, as he planned to go talk to Li Shao Tang.
Zeng Ji Wu also wanted to curry favor with Li Shao Tang and work with him. Li Shao Tang even sent an invitation to Ou Xiao An, inviting him to the wedding.
Feng Yu Nian called the chief Liu, asking him to help investigate Asano Aohiko's background.
Ou Xiao An specifically made an appointment with Li Shao Tang, wanting to inquire about the "Termite Plan". Li Shao Tang intentionally mentioned that Ou Xiao An had undercover experience, trying to gauge his reaction. Ou Xiao An took the initiative to say he wanted to leave the station, asking Li Shao Tang to give him some time.
Li Shao Tang gave him 10 days, saying that after 10 days, he would have to kill Ye Xuan Min.
