Episode 25 recap: Shen Lan Promotes Soong Huan-pei as the Deposed Crown Prince
In Episode 25, Yun Shu received a letter from the border guards. Some of them pretended to be injured to avoid arousing Shen Lan's suspicion, and Shen Lan also sustained minor injuries while dealing with the pressing situation at the border. Dream Maiden investigated Shen Lan's informants thoroughly, and Yun Shu told Dream Maiden not to disturb them, just to keep an eye on their activities.
Shen Lan soon returned from the border, and the first person he visited was Yun Yi. Shen Lan said that the fact he made it back alive meant he should spend more time with Yun Yi, and he even showed Yun Yi the dragon robe he had prepared. This angered Yun Yi, who scolded Shen Lan for being disrespectful, but Shen Lan insisted on acting as a proper husband to Yun Yi, despite her attempts to dissuade him.
Yun Shu's letter to some of the generals in the Yun family army was intercepted by Liu Su, who then gave it to Soong Huan-pei. This made Soong Huan-pei think that Yun Shu could just visit those generals in person instead of sending letters, so he suspected Yun Shu was hiding something. Soong Huan-pei went to confront Yun Shu, who reluctantly admitted that she just wanted the generals to send her their extra armor plates to make Soong Huan-pei a set of armor.
Realizing he had wrongly accused Yun Shu, Soong Huan-pei quickly apologized and even helped Yun Shu make the armor, which touched her deeply. Yuaner's investigation revealed that Soong Huan-pei was actually the deposed Crown Prince Shen Mo. Yuaner wanted to help Shen Lan eliminate Soong Huan-pei, but Shen Lan thought Soong Huan-pei still had greater usefulness, as he wanted the whole court to know the deposed Crown Prince had returned.
Yun Shu also discovered Shen Lan's scheme to restore Soong Huan-pei and was worried for his safety. However, Soong Huan-pei was already prepared, and he went to audience the Emperor, with Shen Lan supposed to accompany him, but Shen Lan had a last-minute engagement. Meanwhile, Yun Yi had been praying for Yun Shu's safety, and was shocked when her prayer beads suddenly broke, sensing that something had happened.
