Episode 2 recap: # Mr. Men Finds Descendants of the Yang Family

In Episode 2, Zheng Xiang Yang approaches Mr. Men to persuade him to donate his house. Initially, Mr. Men is reluctant to part with the property. Zheng Xiang Yang explains that Teacher Huang is very interested in the historical and cultural significance of the alley, which is why he has collected information and written a self-published booklet. Although it may not be considered an official resource, it's more of a personal travel guide. Therefore, if there are inaccuracies in Teacher Huang's statements, Mr. Men shouldn't be upset.

After hearing this, Mr. Men's mood improves significantly. He Jing Yun mentions that if the house is designated as a cultural relic, it will require historical information to be inscribed on the wall. This upsets Mr. Men even more; he firmly states he will not agree to having it noted that the Yang family donated the house to the Men family.

He Jing Yun feels frustrated, realizing she has misspoken. Zheng Xiang Yang quickly suggests that they should assess the situation further. Mr. Men then pulls out an old letter that has been passed down through generations to show them. Zheng Xiang Yang takes a look at the letter, and Teacher Huang mentions that he can understand the cursive script, but he himself cannot decipher it.

One of the individuals present says he has a relative in Tianjin who might be able to read the cursive, and he plans to take it to him for help. Meanwhile, Zheng Xiang Yang and the others are dining out, and Jiang Chuan mentions that Sister Xia made a stew, but they decide to stay out rather than return home for dinner.

Zheng Xiang Yang thinks that dining out isn't so bad after all. Soon, Teacher Huang arrives, saying he consulted his relative about the letter and was surprised to learn about the historical significance of the Men family, which he greatly admires. Zheng Xiang Yang and the others visit Mr. Men to discuss the history mentioned in the letter.

It turns out that during a time of turmoil, the Yang family fled abroad and attempted to sell the house, but no one was interested. It was the Men family that bought the property, which was also a gathering place for many notable figures.

Mr. Men unlocks a room that has been sealed for years, revealing many preserved artifacts. Teacher Huang is thrilled, recognizing how well Mr. Men has cared for these items over the years; they truly belong to the Yang family.

Mr. Men insists that these items need to be returned to their rightful owners. Jiang Chuan helps Mr. Men create a short video to spread the word and locate descendants of the Yang family. After the video is posted, many people come forward to claim ownership, but most are not actual descendants; they just want to take advantage of the situation.

Then, Yang Zhi Fei arrives, claiming he saw the video online and is indeed a descendant of the Yang family. He even offers to show them a copy of the property deed. After verifying his identity with Zheng Xiang Yang, they bring Yang Zhi Fei and his two children, Si Hua and Si Xia, to meet Mr. Men.

Yang Zhi Fei explains that his grandfather took photos of the courtyard, and because his grandfather is hospitalized, he came to see it for himself. Mr. Men is delighted to see them and is pleased that the children speak Chinese so well. He invites Yang Zhi Fei and his family into his home to view the artifacts.

When Si Hua spots a Huqin (a traditional Chinese string instrument), Yang Zhi Fei encourages the children to sing a piece. Mr. Men becomes even happier upon learning they can perform traditional opera. Zheng Xiang Yang understands that Mr. Men hopes to share these treasures with more people.
