Episode 18 recap: Lan Jing Hui created opportunities for Ling Dong and Xiao Hua.
Lan Jing Hui saw Xiao Hua bringing Ling Dong breakfast, and he thought that helping them get together might not be a bad idea, so he purposely bought movie tickets for the two of them. Lan Jing Hui overheard his father on the phone saying that the money must be sent to Ling Dong on time, and his father kept saying that Ling Dong had hurt Lan Jing Hui's feelings. Lan Jing Hui then started to think about some other things and had a significant change in his attitude towards Ling Dong.
On New Year's Eve, Lan Jing Hui and Ling Dong had a great time together, then Ling Dong took him back home. Ling Dong's mother was very enthusiastic and started preparing dumplings as soon as she saw the two. Lan Jing Hui wanted to refuse, but Ling Dong said he wanted to eat more, so two plates of hot dumplings were brought to the table.
The two enjoyed the dumplings, and Ling Dong's mother was busy setting up the sofa. Lan Jing Hui felt a little embarrassed and said he would sleep on the sofa, but Ling Dong's mother thought the bed was big enough for them to squeeze in.
At night, Lan Jing Hui and Ling Dong lay on the same bed, but Lan Jing Hui snored and took up too much space, so Ling Dong ended up sleeping on the floor.
The next day, Ling Dong and his mother prepared a big feast, and Lan Jing Hui was delighted to eat so much. He even volunteered to help wash the dishes. He observed the interaction between Ling Dong and his mother, and it made him feel a little uncomfortable. At night, Lan Jing Hui couldn't sleep because his grandmother was coming back.
Ling Dong was happy to be able to get a good night's sleep. Lan Jing Hui, on the other hand, said that although he disliked Ling Dong's home having lukewarm water and hard bed frames, he still wanted to stay there because it felt more like a home. Ling Dong didn't say anything, he just helped Lan Jing Hui cover himself with the blanket, and Lan Jing Hui also helped Ling Dong.
The next day, Lan Jing Hui went back to his own home, but his father was away on a business trip again, and only his grandmother was there. He didn't want to worry his grandmother, so he pretended to be very happy and even complimented Ling Dong's cooking. After the winter break ended, Lan Jing Hui saw Ma Yi Ming and noticed that Xiao Xiao Hua was bringing Ling Dong breakfast, so he changed the name on the duty roster, hoping to let Xiao Xiao Hua and Ling Dong interact more.
He also bought movie tickets, wanting to get the two of them to go watch a movie together, but it ended up with both of them getting angry and ignoring him.
When Lan Jing Hui got home, his grandmother told him that his father had returned. He overheard his father telling someone to send money to Ling Dong, and he also said that Ling Dong was very focused on his studies.
The next day at school, Lan Jing Hui started to ignore Ling Dong, and no matter how Ling Dong tried to approach him, it was useless. In the end, Ling Dong also got angry.
