Episode 22 recap: Ling Dong and the Others Vow to Enter the Top University in Beijing
In Episode 22, Ling Dong had been waiting for Lan Jing Hui to return, growing increasingly anxious to go look for him. When Fang Hai and Teacher Zhao returned, they comforted Ling Dong and told him to rest, saying they would call the police if Lan Jing Hui didn't come back by the next day. Just then, Lan Jing Hui arrived, claiming he had been out running an errand, but his phone was missing, which angered Fang Hai, who then punished Lan Jing Hui by making him do deep squats.
Worried that Fang Hai would get too upset, Teacher Zhao quickly pulled him away. Ling Dong and Xiao Xiao Hua pressed Lan Jing Hui to explain where he had been, but before he could answer, an elderly woman who had been square dancing came over - Lan Jing Hui's phone had fallen out.
To prevent the square dancers from interfering with Ling Dong's studying, Lan Jing Hui had provided Bluetooth earphones for everyone so they could dance without disturbance. Seeing the free gifts, the elderly dancers happily accepted and even invited Lan Jing Hui to join their dance, praising his skills. Moved by Lan Jing Hui's efforts, Ling Dong was touched, and Fang Hai even apologized to him.
Pretending his leg was in pain, Lan Jing Hui sat down, only to be teased by Fang Hai again. Lan Jing Hui took Xiao Xiao Hua and Ling Dong to tour the campus of Peking University and attend a physics lecture. Seeing the campus, Xiao Xiao Hua remarked that if they could get in, their lives would be completely different, and everyone was filled with enthusiasm.
Chen Lu Yang went to the lively pedestrian street to play with Xia Qing Tian. Chen Lu Yang demonstrated his statistical skills, which made Xia Qing Tian greatly admire him. Xia Qing Tian kept praising Chen Lu Yang's impressive abilities, which made Chen Lu Yang very happy.
Xiao Xiao Hua unknowingly arrived at the painting area and saw everyone carefully painting. She quietly found a spot to sit down and paint as well. The senior student noticed Xiao Xiao Hua's strong sense of color and proactively greeted her. Lan Jing Hui and Ling Dong went to listen to a physics lecture together. Ling Dong listened very carefully, but Lan Jing Hui fell asleep. When the professor asked Lan Jing Hui a question, Ling Dong answered on his behalf. The professor was very satisfied with Ling Dong's answer and hoped to see Ling Dong in his class again.
When Xiao Xiao Hua met Ling Dong, she expressed her determination to apply to the Beijing Academy of Fine Arts. Lan Jing Hui immediately expressed her support, and Ling Dong, although feeling it would be difficult, was willing to let Xiao Xiao Hua try. Lan Jing Hui and Xiao Xiao Hua also hoped that Ling Dong could get into the physics department of Beijing University.
