Episode 3 recap: Lan Jing Hui challenged the basketball team.
When the students got out of school, they found their bicycles had no air. There were many notes mocking them stuck on the bicycle shed, and there were many air pumps in the trash can, letting them pump their own tires. Seeing the students pumping their tires, Lan Jing Hui was so happy that he wanted to jump up, pretending to care about his own bike. Ling Dong didn't make a big deal out of it and didn't blame anyone, just pushed his bicycle and left. Lan Jing Hui felt a bit disappointed, thinking this was a typical case of arrogance.
Chen Lu Yang accused Lan Jing Hui of doing this. Principal Zhang then came over and asked the students whose bikes had no air to take a taxi home, and they would be reimbursed by Lan Jing Hui tomorrow. After the students left, Principal Zhang reminded Lan Jing Hui that he would receive a warning disciplinary action, and harsher punishment if he did it again.
The next day, under Principal Zhang's supervision, Lan Jing Hui and Ma Yi Ming pumped air into each bicycle. Principal Zhang reminded the two to fully inflate each tire, and he would come back to check in 10 minutes. Lan Jing Hui had no choice but to obediently listen. At that moment, Lan Jing Hui heard that the basketball team had started practice, so he rushed off, leaving Ma Yi Ming behind to finish pumping the tires.
When Lan Jing Hui entered the basketball court, he found that only Jia Le Tian was wiping the ball, while the others were pretending to be busy. Dissatisfied with their bullying behavior, Lan Jing Hui proposed to join the basketball team, but was looked down upon by the team members, who asked him to play and prove himself. To their surprise, Lan Jing Hui had excellent basketball skills, with superb footwork and shooting ability.
The team members reminded Lan Jing Hui that to join the team, they needed the approval of their captain. At that moment, the captain Bi Peng arrived. Lan Jing Hui not only wanted to join the basketball team, but also to enjoy the corresponding rights.
The challenge between Lan Jing Hui and Bi Peng soon spread throughout the school, and everyone rushed to watch the outcome of the match. When Fang Hai heard the news, he also hurried over. Lan Jing Hui pretended to tie his shoelaces, distracting Bi Peng's attention, then suddenly made a shot that went in. Lan Jing Hui arrogantly announced that he would join the basketball team. Bi Peng demanded another match, but Lan Jing Hui didn't give him a chance. Angrily, Bi Peng threw the ball, nearly hitting Fang Hai. The PE teacher quickly shielded Fang Hai and asked Bi Peng to apologize, making Bi Peng even more furious with Lan Jing Hui.
While Lan Jing Hui was loosening the soil around the flowers, Bi Peng angrily came to challenge him to a match again. Lan Jing Hui casually threw his own ball away, and Bi Peng caught it gracefully. But when he opened the ball bag, he found it was actually filled with cactus balls, causing him to scream and leave.
Lan Jing Hui was afraid his cactus ball wouldn't get enough sunlight, so he hung it outside the railing to fully enjoy the sunshine. Chen Lu Yang saw this and praised their behavior, asking everyone to put their plants outside the railing as well.
Ma Yi Ming's phone rang during class and the teacher confiscated it. To his surprise, the message was from Lan Jing Hui. Teacher Fang simply took both their phones and reminded them to have their parents come pick them up.
Lan Jing Hui was curious why Ling Dong didn't use a phone, and Ling Dong smiled and said he never uses one, which Lan Jing Hui found hard to believe, saying only ancient people don't use phones. During the break, Lan Jing Hui took another phone out of his drawer and was playing a game when he got a message from Teacher Fang telling him to come to the office with Ling Dong, realizing he had been caught again and the phone was confiscated.
When Ling Dong and Lan Jing Hui came out of the office, Lan Jing Hui publicly accused Ling Dong of lying, threatening to report him. Ling Dong reminded Lan Jing Hui that if he said anything, Ling Dong would reveal that Lan Jing Hui was his nephew, making Lan Jing Hui instantly silent and promise not to divulge the information.
Xiao Xiao Hua was asked by classmates to bring breakfast the next day. She stayed behind to clean, while Lan Jing Hui stayed to write a reflection, offering to help Xiao Xiao Hua clean but being refused. As Xiao Xiao Hua left, someone went upstairs and threw Lan Jing Hui's cactus out the window.
The next day when the principal arrived, he found the broken cactus and called Fang to the office, considering it a safety issue. Fang felt the safety measures were adequate, but no one expected the flower pot to fall. The principal said he didn't oppose having plants, but the main focus should be on studying, not gardening, and bringing plants to school was not appropriate. Lan Jing Hui then barged into the office, claiming someone had maliciously sabotaged the plant, and the principal demanded he find the culprit or the class would lose their eligibility for awards and extracurricular activities would be cancelled.
