Episode 14 recap: He Peng was determined to find Jiang Na, but he had little experience in pursuing girls, and his last attempt to go to a movie with Jiang Na had been rejected
He remembered that last time when he told Jiang Na that Gu Ji Ming's novel was going to be published, Jiang Na seemed very surprised, so He Peng wanted to ask Gu Ji Ming for help
Little did he know, Gu Ji Ming suddenly got angry and furiously said that he wrote the novel to make a name for himself, not to help He Peng pursue a girl. Jiang Guang Ming felt it was time to have a talk with Gu Ji Ming, so he arranged for the police to go find Gu Ji Ming.
The driver told Su Zhen Zhen that the police had asked about who drove the Land Rover on the 23rd last year. Su Zhen Zhen started to worry and asked Gu Ji Ming if he was hiding something from her. But Gu Ji Ming denied it. Su Zhen Zhen was still worried, so she went to find Jiang Guang Ming and asked if he had other motives in approaching her.
Jiang Guang Ming said that if he wanted to get information out of her, he wouldn't have sent the police to find the other guy. Su Zhen Zhen couldn't refute that, but she still firmly believed in Gu Ji Ming. Meanwhile, Shi Luo was preparing work at the station when Gu Wen Hua called, saying he had something to report and insisted on speaking to him in person.
Shi Luo had no choice but to go see him. Gu Wen Hua said a lot, but always avoided the key point. Shi Luo reminded him to talk about the Gu Ji Ming incident on the 23rd last year. Jiang Guang Ming then brought Gu Ji Ming into the interrogation room, as the conference room was full and tomorrow was Gu Ji Ming and Su Zhen Zhen's wedding.
Jiang Guang Ming first asked some unimportant questions to relax Gu Ji Ming, then suddenly asked what he was doing under the bridge that day. Gu Ji Ming hesitated, and said that was the usual route to Hui River. Jiang Guang Ming further asked him where he dropped off Jiang Na, but Gu Ji Ming denied meeting Jiang Na.
The interrogation yielded no results, so Jiang Guang Ming had to let Gu Ji Ming go. He saw Su Zhen Zhen come to pick up Gu Ji Ming, so he decided to go check out the fishing spot Gu Ji Ming had mentioned.
Gu Wen Hua said Gu Ji Ming and He Peng had an argument that day, but he didn't hear the details. Jiang Guang Ming went to the fishing spot and asked around, but got no leads. That's when Shi Luo said Gu Ji Ming and He Peng had gotten into a conflict, so they went to find out more from He Peng.
He Peng said there was actually no big deal that day, he just wanted Gu Ji Ming to help him pursue Jiang Na, but Gu Ji Ming refused, saying he wrote the novel to make a name for himself, not to help others chase girls. He Peng thought Gu Ji Ming was just under a lot of stress, and had had a few drinks, so he didn't take it seriously.
Jiang Guang Ming saw a photo of the literature club at Windmill Mountain, and He Peng mentioned the dog they had encountered that day, so they quickly asked about the dog's appearance. Shi Luo contacted Gu Wen Hua and had him send a video, and the dog in the video looked very similar to the one named Sichuan Peppercorn.
On August 22nd last year, Jiang Na went to the publishing house to see Gu Ji Ming, and saw him getting into a car with a woman. Gu Ji Ming claimed he had left his phone in the car, but he was actually going to talk to Jiang Na. To appease Jiang Na, he said he was there to tell the publishing house not to publish the book. Jiang Na believed him, but Gu Ji Ming had already decided to kill her. The next day, he asked Jiang Na to go look at a house, but was actually taking her to Windmill Mountain.
On the way, they encountered the dog named Sichuan Peppercorn, which disrupted Gu Ji Ming's plan. He had originally wanted to give up, but Jiang Na insisted on seeing the windmill, so Gu Ji Ming had to drive up the mountain. At the top, there was only the windmill, and no one else around.
