Episode 18 recap: Title: Chu An Ge and Luo Cheng Yu's Relationship Heats Up
In this episode, Jian Dan and Ding Yao arrived in Silicon City and had a meal with Luo Cheng Yu. Jian Dan noticed that Luo Cheng Yu seemed unhappy there, even though he was trying to act like everything was fine. Luo Cheng Yu revealed that he was using the advanced equipment and resources of Dream World Company to develop the Cloud Shield and Dragon Light systems.
When Bronte learned that the Cloud Shield was Dream World's entry in the competition, he began investigating the company. At the North American Dream Competition, the "Three Musketeers" used the Cloud Shield system to win widespread acclaim, much to Bronte's shock and anger, though Masen and Helen were delighted. After the competition, Bronte proposed buying Dream World Company or investing $20 million, but this was rejected by Jiang Yifei and Yu Jiaming.
In a high-level meeting, Bronte discovered that the data for the Cloud Shield and Dragon Cloud systems were very similar, and planned to accuse Dream World of plagiarism. During Dream World's celebration party, Luo Cheng Yu confessed his feelings to Jiang Yifei, which left Yu Jiaming feeling a bit uncomfortable. Suddenly, the police arrived and arrested Luo Cheng Yu and Jiang Yifei on charges of data theft.
Chu An Ge was about to take Jian Dan and Ding Yao to find Luo Cheng Yu at Dream World, but witnessed the arrest. He quickly had Yu Jiaming find a lawyer. At the police station, Luo Cheng Yu took full responsibility to protect Jiang Yifei, even convincing the police to release her. Chu An Ge went to the police station hoping to bail out Luo Cheng Yu, but was unsuccessful, so he decided to act as Luo Cheng Yu's lawyer himself. He told Luo Cheng Yu that the charges would not lead to a conviction. Fan Simiao also mentioned that there were problems with the Cloud Shield's code, which Chu An Ge saw as an important clue.
The Episode Review
"Dream City" episode 18 delivered an intense and dramatic installment that furthered the central conflict between Dream World Company and its rivals. The episode highlighted the growing relationship between Chu An Ge and Luo Cheng Yu, as Luo confessed his feelings to Jiang Yifei during Dream World's celebration. However, this tender moment was quickly shattered when the police suddenly arrived to arrest Luo and Jiang on charges of data theft.
The episode did an excellent job of ratcheting up the stakes, as Luo took the fall to protect Jiang, and Chu An Ge sprang into action to defend him. The revelation that there may be issues with Dream World's Cloud Shield technology also added an intriguing new wrinkle to the ongoing corporate espionage storyline.
