Episode 14 recap: Hao Ling Yi remembered her father's expedition.
Hao Ling Yi bravely ventured into the Western Yan army camp alone, intending to assassinate Xi Yan Qiang Xuan, but was unfortunately apprehended by Yu Jiang on the spot. However, Yu Jiang, aware of Hao Ling Yi's noble identity, did not dare to use violence against her and could only bind her up. Subsequently, Chi Shui Feng Long and Tu Shan Jing hurried over upon hearing the commotion and immediately demanded that Yu Jiang release Hao Ling Yi.
Tu Shan Jing even carefully arranged for someone to groom and prepare Hao Ling Yi. After she changed into fresh clothes, Xi Yan Qiang Xuan rushed into the room, his face filled with concern, inquiring whether Hao Ling Yi was injured. Faced with this familiar face, Hao Ling Yi struggled internally, torn between the desire for revenge and lingering hesitation.
Ultimately, she chose to plead with Xi Yan Qiang Xuan to cease the attack on Hao Ling, but was met with refusal. This news left Hao Ling Yi in despair, and she broke down in tears, unable to accept this cruel reality. As night fell, Xiao Yao of Xiling, out of concern, went to visit Hao Ling Yi, but Hao Ling Yi harbored resentment towards her, believing her to be just as untrustworthy a deceiver as Xi Yan Qiang Xuan.
Faced with Hao Ling Yi's accusations, Xiao Yao calmly explained her actions after learning the truth, including her pleas to Xi Yan Qiang Xuan and the resulting rift. These explanations gradually eased Hao Ling Yi's hostility, although she remained dissatisfied with Xiao Yao's delayed visit.
Afterwards, Xiao Yao sincerely apologized to Hao Ling Yi and shared her own inner struggles and pain upon discovering her origins. Deeply moved, Hao Ling Yi expressed that regardless of Xiao Yao's lineage, she would always be her sister. This understanding and acceptance brought Xiao Yao to tears, and the misunderstandings and barriers between the two sisters finally dissipated.
However, when Xiao Yao eagerly prepared a feast for Hao Ling Yi the next day, she was saddened to learn that Hao Ling Yi had already left the camp. Meanwhile, Hao Ling Yi was taken to Ru Shou's place. Feeling responsible for her failure to assassinate Xi Yan Qiang Xuan, she saw herself as worthless.
But Ru Shou gently comforted her, pointing out that her kindness and reluctance were her precious qualities, not signs of incompetence. To divert Hao Ling Yi's attention, Ru Shou cleverly devised a plan that caused Yu Jiang to be severely injured. Fortunately, Xiao Yao arrived in time to treat Yu Jiang, saving his life.
This series of events not only demonstrated Xiao Yao's bravery and medical skills, but also allowed Hao Ling Yi to see the positive aspects of her, further strengthening the emotional bond between the two sisters.
A minister has formally proposed that Ru Shou and Hao Ling Yi be married, but this proposal has been firmly rejected by both Ru Shou and Hao Ling Yi.
Hao Ling Wang has not insisted on this, demonstrating his tolerance and understanding. As for the sensitive issue of the heir apparent, Hao Ling Wang already has a premonition that the White Tiger and Chang Xi factions have likely planned a new strategy. On the battlefield, Ru Shou's Hao Ling army has dealt a heavy blow to the Xi Yan army, achieving significant results.
Chi Shui Feng Long is concerned about Xi Yan Qiang Xuan's safety and has urged him to return home early, but Xi Yan Qiang Xuan has chosen to stay, sensing that an important event is about to occur. Soon, an emissary from the Chang Xi faction arrives, announcing that the White Tiger and Chang Xi factions have decided to defect to Xi Yan, causing an uproar within Hao Ling, with everyone furious.
Hao Ling Wang decides to lead the army in person to attack, but suddenly collapses due to his physical weakness. At this critical moment, Hao Ling Yi steps forward, deciding to replace her father the king and lead the troops, demonstrating her sense of responsibility and courage as a princess. Learning of this, the Western Reach Xiao Yao has mixed feelings and asks Xi Yan Qiang Xuan if he is aware of Hao Ling Yi's decision.
Xi Yan Qiang Xuan indicates that he is aware, but believes that Hao Ling Yi is not adept at military affairs and that there must be hidden motives behind this. Therefore, he decides to lead the troops himself, a decision that deeply disappoints Western Reach Xiao Yao, who chooses to leave alone and go to Mount Wushen to visit the ailing Hao Ling Wang.
Later, Western Reach Xiao Yao and Xi Yan Qiang Xuan disguise themselves as Tu Shan Jing's attendants and successfully infiltrate Hao Ling Wang's palace. Although physically weak, Hao Ling Wang insists on receiving them. In the conversation, Hao Ling Wang opens his heart to Western Reach Xiao Yao, explaining the complex emotional entanglement between himself and her mother, and tries to untie the knot in her heart.
Finally, Hao Ling Wang decides to take Western Reach Xiao Yao to Bai Li Chichen Fortress, which was once the home of her parents, hoping that she can find her own answers there. Upon entering the house, Western Reach Xiao Yao unexpectedly discovers a person completely wrapped up, who claims to be the guardian of the house.
Western Reach Xiao Yao requests that the guardian tell the story of Chichen and Western Reach Heng. The guardian slowly recounts that in this place, Chichen was not the great villain in the eyes of the world, but a beloved beast king; and Western Reach Heng was not the heroic general, but Chichen's wife, revered by the Bai Li people as the Western Reach Witch.
