Episode 17 recap: Fang Feng Yi Ying and Tu Shan Jing Meet Their Demise
In episode 17, Hao Ling was faced with a difficult choice - whether to surrender. This caused Hao Ling's long-held beliefs and convictions to become muddled. Meanwhile, Xiang Liu remained steadfast, declaring "Though a thousand may fall, I shall endure," demonstrating his remarkable courage and determination.
Chi Shui Feng Long, angered by his misunderstanding of Chen Rong Xin Yue, stormed home and complained to his father about her spoiled behavior. However, his father's explanation left him speechless. It turned out that Chen Rong Xin Yue had willingly lived as a hostage in West Yan for 120 years, sacrificing her youth and freedom to ensure Chi Shui Feng Long's carefree childhood. Realizing the truth, Chi Shui Feng Long felt deeply guilty and promised his father he would cherish and treat his sister better.
The father warned Chi Shui Feng Long that as the heir of the two clans, he was not only the family's pride, but also Chen Rong Xin Yue's sole support, and must always act cautiously. To make amends, Chi Shui Feng Long selected a rare xiao (Chinese musical instrument) as a gift, went to the palace, and apologized to Chen Rong Xin Yue. Seeing her brother's sincere apology, Chen Rong Xin Yue's anger immediately dissipated, and she joyfully accepted the gift.
Meanwhile, after Hao Ling had firmly established himself in West Yan, Xi Ling Jiu Yao returned to her Xiao Yue Ding residence. The news reached Xi Yan Qiang Xuan, who rushed to Xiao Yue Ding. Chen Rong Xin Yue was planning to present the xiao to the emperor, but was conflicted upon learning of Qiang Xuan's arrival. A playful remark from Xi Ling Jiu Yao, asking Tu Shan Jing if he would like to spend the rest of his life with her, was unexpectedly met with Tu Shan Jing's enthusiastic agreement, much to the amusement of the nearby maidservants. Xi Ling Jiu Yao was left blushing and bashfully striking Tu Shan Jing.
Qiang Xuan was troubled by Tu Shan Jing's failure to severely punish Fang Feng Yi Ying for harming Jiu Yao, and he pleaded with his grandfather not to entrust Jiu Yao's future to Tu Shan Jing. However, the grandfather recognized Tu Shan Jing's magnanimity and strong character, and believed Jiu Yao had already given her heart to Tu Shan Jing. Troubled, Qiang Xuan invited Chi Shui Feng Long to drink with him, expressing his concern that Tu Shan Jing's perceived weakness might make him an unsuitable match for Jiu Yao.
Although Chi Shui Feng Long was aware of Tu Shan Jing's sacrifices, he remained silent due to his father's admonitions. When the group discussed strategies to eliminate the Hongjiang army, Pu Shou pointed out that although Xiang Liu was a genius, his stratagems would be useless against absolute power. Xi Yan Qiang Xuan, who controlled the Great Wilderness, had a strong army, while the Chenrong rebels were like water without a source.
The group agreed that surrounding without attacking was the best strategy, but the old Xi Yan Wang still regretted the talents of Hongjiang and Xiang Liu. Chi Shui Feng Long tried to persuade Hongjiang to surrender, but failed again. Hu Zhen brought the news that Tu Shan Jing's lover Tushanjing was gravely ill, causing Tu Shan Jing to become anxious and decide to go to Qingshui Town to visit her.
Jiu Yao offered to accompany him, and Tu Shan Jing readily agreed. However, in Qingshui Town, Jiu Yao was suddenly attacked by Fang Feng Yi Ying while treating Tushanjing, and was knocked unconscious. Fang Feng Yi Ying explained that she had no choice but to act to save Tushanjing, and Tu Shan Hou appeared to challenge Tu Shan Jing to a duel.
Tu Shan Jing engaged in battle, but was severely wounded due to the disparity in strength. In the critical moment, Fang Feng Yi Ying turned against Tu Shan Hou, revealing that her true target was him. She apologized to Jiu Yao and informed her that she would regain consciousness, leaving a letter for Tushanjing. Afterward, Fang Feng Yi Ying and Tu Shan Hou perished together.
Before his death, Tu Shan Hou shot and pushed Tu Shan Jing into the river. When Qiang Xuan heard the news, he led his men to the scene, and Liye Rong Chang used his divine technique to confirm that Tu Shan Jing had fallen into the river, with his fate unknown. Jiu Yao, disregarding everything, jumped into the river to search for her lover, and Qiang Xuan followed after her.
Xiang Liu, who had been watching from the sky, was powerless to intervene. After the traumatic events, the exhausted Jiu Yao fell ill, consumed with worry for Tu Shan Jing's safety.
