Episode 18 recap: Xuan Assumed Involvement in Killing Tu Shan Jing

In episode 18, the group searched in vain for Tu Shan Jing, and Xi Yan Qiang Xuan declared that he was most likely dead, swept away by the currents. Upon hearing the news, Xi Ling Jiu Yao was devastated, but she bravely suppressed her grief and asked Qiang Xuan to take her to the seaside.

Braving the chilling winds, she stood on the rocky shore, staring out at the vast ocean, filled with confusion and resentment. This journey was meant to treat a sick child - how could this have happened? Tu Shan Jing had fought for her, a righteous act, yet fate had been so unkind. She sought answers from Qiang Xuan, but found none. In her despair, she called out Tu Shan Jing's name to the sea, vowing to marry him immediately if he returned.

However, the only response was the crashing of the waves, and Tu Shan Jing remained missing. After a week, with no sign of him, Jiu Yao disregarded everything and insisted on holding the wedding. Qiang Xuan was heartbroken, pleading in vain, forced to watch Jiu Yao fulfill her vow to Tu Shan Jing alone.

The wedding was simple yet solemn, with Jiu Yao waiting quietly for the groom who never came, leaving only a cold, empty room and her tears behind.

Standing atop Chenrong Mountain, Jiu Yao's tears were swept away by the wind, along with her waiting and regrets. She had waited for her mother for six years, and for Qiang Xuan and the king for seventy years, each wait a knife's edge torment. But this time, she swore not to let herself be trapped in endless waiting again - yet she was willing to make an exception for Tu Shan Jing.

Gazing into the distance, she silently vowed, "Tu Shan Jing, you must come, no matter how long it takes, I will wait for you."

The grandfather's gaze was penetrating as he asked Qiang Xuan if he harbored resentment over Jiu Yao's wedding. Qiang Xuan bitterly smiled, saying it was just a formality. However, when the topic turned to the cause of Tu Shan Jing's death, the grandfather's insight made Qiang Xuan unable to hide. He questioned how Tu Shan Hou could have so many skilled assassins, and Qiang Xuan's silence made it all too clear.

On the other side, Jiu Yao, after calming down, met with Qiang Xuan. She was grateful that Tu Shan Jing had healed her wounded heart, but when discussing the cause of his death, her gaze became sharp and questioning. She asked if Qiang Xuan was involved, and his silence crushed Jiu Yao's heart.

Gripping the knife in her hand, tears and anger mingling on her face, she demanded to know why Qiang Xuan had been so cruel to her and Tu Shan Jing. In that moment, all trust and feelings had vanished, leaving only endless hatred and despair. Qiang Xuan looked at her, his eyes filled with pain and helplessness, knowing he had lost her forever.
