Episode 10 recap: Zhang Hai Chao brings Li Dong Sheng back to China to develop
In Episode 10, as soon as Li Dong Sheng arrived, he was busy with work. Zhang Hai Chao had given him the plan for the baseband chip, and after discussing it, Li Dong Sheng decided to raise investment, while Zhang Hai Chao was responsible for recruiting forty to fifty doctoral-level engineers.
Zhang Hai Chao also reminded him that he needed to make the engineers feel secure in order to retain them. He also recommended Huang Lin Xi to be the sales director, and Li Dong Sheng agreed.
Zhang Hai Chao named the company Ling Tong.
Li Dong Sheng knew that Zhang Hai Chao had given up his own dreams to bring him out, and he was very grateful. Ou Yang Zi Xia sent Li Dong Sheng home, where everything was already set up, and there was even a hot pot waiting for him. Huang Lin Xi also advised Ou Yang Zi Xia to accept Li Dong Sheng, but Ou Yang Zi Xia just smiled and didn't say anything.
Zhang Hai Chao was busy with recruitment, having to interview many people every day. Li Dong Sheng received Mi Lan Da's resume, but because she had been a bit excessive towards Liu Han in the past, they discussed it and decided not to hire her. When Mi Lan Da found out, she came to see Zhang Hai Chao directly, but he still refused.
Liu Han went to chase after Mi Lan Da, telling her that although he liked her, he couldn't get divorced because his wife was in China taking care of his sick father. Mi Lan Da was heartbroken, but still said goodbye to Liu Han.
In November 2001, more than 300 doctoral students studying in the US returned to China together. Zhang Hai Chao, Liu Han, Huang Lin Xi and Li Dong Sheng were on that flight. They got along well with the doctoral students and sang "Clouds over the Hometown" together. The 11 founding members on that flight later all went on to establish listed companies.
Xue A Tu arranged for people to pick up Zhang Hai Chao and the others, and the district governor Pan and the town head You Chu also personally came to welcome them. Zhang Hai Chao and Li Dong Sheng reported their work to Governor Pan, but he wanted Zhang Hai Chao to replace Li Dong Sheng, which Zhang Hai Chao did not agree to.
Zhang Hai Chao was very busy every day, even working while at home, which made Huang Lin Xi unhappy.
Li Dong Sheng was worried that Zhang Hai Chao would replace him, but Huang Lin Xi felt that Zhang Hai Chao would not do that. True enough, although Zhang Hai Chao appreciated another doctoral student named Li Yue, he did not plan to replace Li Dong Sheng. Later, they went to see an investor named Guan, but Guan had some prejudice against them, which started to worry Zhang Hai Chao.
