Episode 15 recap: Tensions Arise Between Zhang Hai Chao and Li Dong Sheng
In episode 15, Li Dong Sheng travels to Shanghai to seek investment. Ou Yang Zi Xia's father organizes an investment pitch meeting. When Li Dong Sheng arrives, he finds the venue set up in a way that he finds disrespectful - there are rows of chairs on the stage for the investors, while the entrepreneurs seeking funding have to sit in the audience and field questions. Li Dong Sheng leaves before the meeting even starts, but Xue A Tu thinks the format is refreshingly novel.
Once the pitches begin, many entrepreneurs line up to go on stage and answer the investors' questions. One young executive is especially eager to get close to Ou Yang Zi Xia, knowing that she has returned to China to manage a special fund for Hongmu Capital. He tries hard to connect Ou Yang Zi Xia with another male attendee.
Li Dong Sheng sees all of this and is determined to secure investment. To his surprise, he also spots Michelle Wang, the CEO of ASIC, a global leader in the chip industry. The two chat amiably, as Li Dong Sheng is well-known to Michelle.
Later, Li Dong Sheng uses 800,000 yuan from the company's finances to buy Ou Yang Zi Xia an apartment, and then calls her to confess his feelings. Ou Yang Zi Xia does not give him a direct answer. Huang Lin Xi suspects Li Dong Sheng is just trying to gain access to Hongmu Capital's investments, but Zhang Hai Chao believes their software can attract funding on its own merits, and encourages Ou Yang Zi Xia to accept Li Dong Sheng. Ou Yang Zi Xia simply smiles without responding.
After returning to China, Ou Yang Zi Xia allows Li Dong Sheng to take her to see the new apartment he bought, and their relationship deepens into an intimate one.
Li Dong Sheng also takes Ou Yang Zi Xia to see his internet team, as he wants to use online buzz to attract investors. However, Ou Yang Zi Xia advises him not to do this, fearing it could backfire. Li Dong Sheng wants to wait until he secures the investment before discussing it with Zhang Hai Chao.
After Zhang Hai Chao returns to China with Huang Lin Xi and his daughter, he fully immerses himself in the chip R&D work. But Lin Jia Yao is very unhappy with Li Dong Sheng's approach, and goes to complain to Zhang Hai Chao. Huang Lin Xi thinks Li Dong Sheng's idea is worth trying, and personally verifies it. When Ou Yang Zi Xia's father hears that Ou Yang Zi Xia and Li Dong Sheng are living together, he goes to confirm this with her.
Ou Yang Zi Xia lets him and Huang Lin Xi take a look at Li Dong Sheng's website, and they both think it looks very good. Zhang Hai Chao finds Li Dong Sheng and urges him to shut down the internet campaign, but Li Dong Sheng disagrees. Ou Yang Zi Xia's father quickly mediates, and invites everyone to have a meal together.
Meanwhile, Liu Lu Jing has brought in foreign capital and is collaborating well with Qin Yu Dong, quickly getting an 8-inch production line up and running. They are both very happy. Zhang Hai Chao and Li Dong Sheng frequently argue due to their disagreements. Seeing this, Ou Yang Zi Xia advises her father to leave. Zhang Hai Chao tries to convince Li Dong Sheng again to shut down the internet campaign, but Li Dong Sheng reminds him not to have unrealistic fantasies about the investors. They end up in a heated argument over this.
Li Dong Sheng spends his days out networking with various executives, hoping to secure investment. The PhDs are very positive about his plan, but Zhang Hai Chao complains to Huang Lin Xi, who suggests he seek funding from Xue A Tu and Qin Yu Dong.
