Episode 17 recap: Zhang Hai Chao's Chip Prototype Tested Successfully

In episode 17, Qin Yu Dong returned from studying abroad in Japan, harboring a dream to create China's own homegrown chip. Little did he know, his passion would be exploited by Li Yue and President Guan's scheme. Qin Yu Dong invested heavily, only to discover that Li Yue had pirated Motorola's chip design and duped the public into investing, a blatant fraud.

Faced with this deception, Qin Yu Dong chose to blow the whistle on Li Yue. But this only emboldened Li Yue, who not only fought back but also sparked an online firestorm, making Qin Yu Dong a target. Under the media onslaught, Qin Yu Dong's health rapidly deteriorated, and his old illness resurfaced.

Yet he persisted in his beliefs, unwilling to give up. On his sickbed, Qin Yu Dong recognized Zhang Hai Chao as a true man of action, deeply passionate and capable in chip R&D. He proactively proposed a collaboration. On the Great Wall, Zhang Hai Chao's team of PhDs was testing a new chip prototype.

Although ailing, Qin Yu Dong eagerly awaited the results alongside Huang Lin Xi, President Ouyang, and Xue A Tu. But fate had other plans. At the critical moment of the test, Qin Yu Dong's condition suddenly worsened. He did not live to see the chip's success, leaving all present deeply saddened and regretful.

Fortunately, Zhang Hai Chao and Li Dong Sheng did not relent. They led the team in further field testing. On the watchtower, they successfully transmitted signals between two phones, clearly hearing each other's voices. This achievement filled everyone with joy and a sense of vindication.

To celebrate this historic moment, they held a grand banquet. Meanwhile, fearing exposure, Li Yue had hastily fled the scene. President Guan, refusing to account for his crimes, was arrested by the police.

Devastated by Qin Yu Dong's passing, Xue A Tu vowed to never again be involved in the semiconductor industry. President Ouyang seized the opportunity to persuade Xue A Tu to invest in Li Dong Sheng's internet company, but the grieving Xue A Tu declined.

With Ou Yang Zi Xia's help, Li Dong Sheng successfully introduced the CEO of Hongmu Capital to invest in his internet venture. However, the CEO was skeptical of Zhang Hai Chao's chip project and advised Li Dong Sheng to divest from it. Torn, Li Dong Sheng ultimately decided, with Ou Yang Zi Xia's steadfast support, to lead the internet team in independent development.

To promote the company, Li Dong Sheng planned to distribute ads in the Huaqiangbei market, but his plans were unexpectedly disrupted by Jin Wen. Jin Wen, who had initially sought to purchase from Ni Zhi Xiong, now approached Li Dong Sheng for collaboration after learning of his search for partners. After researching Jin Wen's store, Huang Lin Xi and Li Dong Sheng determined its modest size but tremendous potential, and decided to partner with Jin Wen to drive the company's growth.
