Episode 7 recap: Zhang Hai Chao Gives Up Millions in Stock Options to Return to China
In episode 7, Zhang Hai Chao's hard work paid off as he developed an incredible navigation software that skyrocketed Teng Fei Company and led to a successful IPO. Suddenly, Zhang Hai Chao became a huge star, with Chinese companies vying to lure him back home with lucrative offers. Xue A Tu, fearing Zhang Hai Chao might be snatched away, pretended to invite him to dinner on behalf of Huang Lin Xi.
However, Huang Lin Xi never showed up. Zhang Hai Chao then learned that she had run into trouble - she had purchased a batch of robotic arm machines, but the seller had discarded the parts as junk, leaving her with just the frames. Hearing this, Zhang Hai Chao felt concerned for Huang Lin Xi.
Under questioning, Xue A Tu admitted that he had instructed Huang Lin Xi to buy the robots. Zhang Hai Chao decided to help Huang Lin Xi resolve this issue. But there was tension, as Huang Lin Xi and Zhang Hai Chao had already broken up and she still harbored resentment towards him.
To help Huang Lin Xi, Zhang Hai Chao went to the robotic arm company and offered to solve their technical problems. Meanwhile, Li Dong Sheng was making risky moves in the stock market, secretly giving money to Ou Yang Zi Xia's father, though Ou Yang Zi Xia warned him not to play with fire.
When Huang Lin Xi was about to leave for New York, Zhang Hai Chao, though saddened, attended her farewell party. He gave her a bracelet and personally put it on her wrist, which deeply touched Huang Lin Xi.
Later, when Zhang Hai Chao learned that Li Dong Sheng was trying to sabotage Teng Fei Company, he decided to resign and return to China to contribute to his country. He gave up the high salary and stock options at Teng Fei, driven only by a desire to serve his nation. Zhang Hai Chao and Liu Han were warmly welcomed back to China. However, Li Dong Sheng seized the opportunity to short-sell Teng Fei's stock, causing its price to plummet. Desperate, Huang Zhong Kai sought help from a Russian team, but even that failed to save the company.
Ou Yang Zi Xia tried to persuade Li Dong Sheng to stop his disruptive actions, but he refused to listen. Ultimately, Huang Zhong Kai ran out of options and had to turn to Mr. Zhou for assistance, but even Mr. Zhou could not help him.
