Episode 9 recap: Zhang Hai Chao Sacrifices His Ideals to Save Huang Lin Xi
In episode 9, Zhang Hai Chao arrived at Lake Tahoe, facing endless snow-capped mountains and heavy snowfall. He sought help from the rescue team to find Huang Lin Xi, but had to search on his own. He trudged through the deep snow on the mountains, finding Huang Lin Xi's skis but not her.
As the snow fell harder, Zhang Hai Chao kept searching but couldn't locate her. Then Ye Cui called to say the rescue team had found Huang Lin Xi, but she was seriously injured.
Zhang Hai Chao rushed to the hospital, where Huang Lin Xi insisted on calling the press, claiming she was injured while trying to negotiate with Moritz. Moritz came to the hospital to confront Huang Lin Xi, and she pleaded with him. Moritz agreed, but demanded a stake in Zhang Hai Chao's company. Though reluctant, Zhang Hai Chao eventually offered to let Moritz endorse a CEO candidate for their company.
Wu Xiao tried to persuade Huang Zhong Kai to withdraw the lawsuit, but he refused. Liu Han told Zhang Hai Chao that Huang Lin Xi might lose her leg. So Zhang Hai Chao decided to propose to her. He and some friends hid in her room to surprise her. Zhang Hai Chao presented flowers and proposed, and Huang Lin Xi was moved to tears, saying her leg didn't need amputation.
Six months later, they held their wedding. But the next day, Liu Han informed Zhang Hai Chao that the Twin Towers had been attacked, Moritz's company had gone bankrupt, and Li Dong Sheng's company had also collapsed. To free Li Dong Sheng from jail, Zhang Hai Chao agreed to give up his navigation technology.
Determined to help Li Dong Sheng, Zhang Hai Chao decided to venture into mobile chip design, despite Mr. Zhou's warnings. Though this meant less time with Huang Lin Xi, she understood and supported him. In the end, Li Dong Sheng was released, and Zhang Hai Chao gave him a business plan.
