Episode 20 recap: Bai Li Dong Jun Challenges Luo Sheng and is Thoroughly Convinced
In episode 20, a heavy downpour suddenly begins as Yu Sheng Mo is imparting the essence of his final technique to Ye Ding Zhi. At this critical juncture, a bamboo raft drifts into view, carrying the masterful swordswoman Yan Ling Xia, who is clearly aware of Yu Sheng Mo's arrival. Tensions flare between the two.
Bai Li Dong Jun presses Li Chang Sheng for details about Yu Sheng Mo, and Li Chang Sheng calmly explains that while Yu Sheng Mo is a demonic cultivator, his heart is purer than many others. Li Chang Sheng himself has also been entangled by love this lifetime, much to Bai Li Dong Jun's amusement.
The clash between Yu Sheng Mo and Yan Ling Xia erupts in a flurry of deadly blows, gripping to witness. Though Yu Sheng Mo emerges victorious, he is gravely wounded. He imparts his lifelong teachings to Ye Ding Zhi, especially the thirteen sword techniques, each imbued with hopes and lessons for Ye Ding Zhi.
Knowing his time is short, Yu Sheng Mo leaves a letter for Ye Ding Zhi, instructing him to challenge an elder in the north and become his disciple, before departing without a trace.
Meanwhile, Si Kong Chang Feng engages a mysterious man in combat, their exchange hinting at a deep friendship and aspirations for the future. Si Kong Chang Feng is confident that one day, he will find a master to guide him to greater heights. Before leaving, he visits Feng Gu Niang at Bai Hua Lou, promising to return once his spearmanship is perfected.
Li Chang Sheng's group travels to Qian Yue Forge to commission the legendary weaponsmith Luo Sheng to forge an unparalleled blade. Though initially unfamiliar with Li Chang Sheng, Luo Sheng recognizes him by the jade token, and promises to deliver the sword in three days, much to Bai Li Dong Jun's anticipation.
True to his word, Luo Sheng presents an exquisite masterpiece. Bai Li Dong Jun names the divine weapon "Jinjinhua," meaning "to cleanse the dross and return to purity." Li Chang Sheng imparts the secret sword techniques, and Bai Li Dong Jun is astounded by their brilliance.
Ye Ding Zhi then appears, revealing that Yu Sheng Mo had entrusted him to retrieve the sword. Learning of Yu Sheng Mo's passing, the group is saddened. Bai Li Dong Jun invites Ye Ding Zhi to join them, but he declines, needing to attend to his master's affairs at the Southern Sect first.
As the Tangmen Poison Testing Challenge approaches, the Wei family has also been invited. The eager Wei Jiu Hu hastily packs and joins Bai Li Dong Jun's group on the way. During the journey, Li Chang Sheng recounts Luo Sheng's past, explaining that Luo Sheng lost his true love, who is now Li Xin Yue. Though Wei Jiu Hu's carriage is slower, his heart races, impatient to experience all that awaits at the Tangmen Challenge.
Ultimately, Ye Ding Zhi also decides to travel with Bai Li Dong Jun, facing the future's challenges together. Navigating the tumultuous jianghu, the group forges ahead, writing their own legendary tale.
