Episode 31 recap: Bai Li Dong Jun Besieged
In Episode 31, a woman is disguising a man to look like Li Chang Sheng. Meanwhile, Bai Li Dong Jun is chatting with his grandfather when the Grand Supervisor quietly enters, followed by the disguised Li Chang Sheng. The Grand Supervisor announces that the Emperor is visiting in person, surprising the Marquis of the West.
The Marquis hastily has his grandson kneel to greet the Emperor. The Emperor expresses continued trust in the Marquis and reiterates his intention to punish those who wronged him. The Emperor then takes the Marquis aside for a private discussion.
Inside, the Marquis and Emperor discuss Ye Yu's past false accusation of treason. The Marquis worries his comrades may also be targeted. He praises Xiao Ruo Feng, which the Emperor notes could put him in danger if known. The Emperor promises to restore the Marquis's title if he returns to his domain.
Outside, the Grand Supervisor tries to probe the disguised Li Chang Sheng, but Bai Li Dong Jun deflects him. As tensions rise, the Marquis and Emperor emerge, diffusing the situation. The Grand Supervisor suspects the ruse but holds his tongue, fearing the Marquis's restoration would undermine his plans.
Xiao Shuo, fearing exposure, is informed by an ally that the time has come. Bai Li Dong Jun reunites with his fellow disciples, sensing the Emperor's ulterior motive to aid Xiao Ruo Feng. Ye Ding Zhi also senses something amiss with the Grand Supervisor's actions.
Eventually, the Grand Supervisor's minion is defeated by Bai Li Dong Jun, who then reveals his true identity as the "Immortal of Wine" Bai Li Dong Jun.
