Episode 16 recap: Sun Kai Discovers that Liu Qi Meng is Xiao Wu Kong
In episode 16, when Liu Qi Meng was young, she was often bullied by mischievous children. She would cry because she didn't have her parents around, and it really hurt her heart. Luckily, she had her grandmother Liu Xiu Ying, who would always show up just in time, like how Sun Wukong protected Tang Seng. Liu Xiu Ying would tell Qi Meng, "Don't be afraid, child. You must hold tight to your own destiny."
With her grandmother's strong support, Liu Qi Meng gradually became braver, and those naughty kids no longer dared to bully her. Later, due to a misunderstanding, Afang ended up getting Liu Xiu Ying hospitalized. But their long-standing friendship was not so easily broken, and the two quickly made amends.
Liu Xiu Ying had been racking her brain, trying to figure out how to switch her and Qi Meng's bodies back, so that Qi Meng and Sun Kai could smoothly pursue their romance. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't make the switch happen. Liu Xiu Ying decided that the best thing to do was to go abroad for plastic surgery, to give the two youngsters some space.
When Sun Kai heard that Liu Xiu Ying was hospitalized, he rushed to the hospital, eager to "reclaim" his "Xiao Wu Kong." But when he got there, he saw Liu Xiu Ying, disguised as Liu Qi Meng, holding a photo album in the hallway. Sun Kai then realized most of what was going on.
Liu Xiu Ying didn't try to hide anything, and directly told Sun Kai the truth. But she advised him not to rush into claiming kinship, because Qi Meng was currently unwell and couldn't handle the shock. Moreover, Qi Meng was now using Liu Xiu Ying's body, so if Sun Kai were to be intimate with her, it would be quite awkward for Liu Xiu Ying.
Meanwhile, Liu Qi Meng went to get a haircut on her own, while Liu Xiu Ying went to visit a neighbor, carrying a fruit basket that was a community center award. That's when Sun Kai arrived, carrying flowers, saying he wanted to take "Liu Qi Meng" out for a stroll. Sun Kai was extremely considerate towards "Liu Qi Meng," but when Qi Meng mentioned the plagiarism accusation against her company, a gloomy look crossed her face.
She wanted to confess her true identity, but when she looked in the mirror and saw her grandmother's face, she changed her mind. The two enjoyed themselves a lot, and when it was time to part, Qi Meng even gave Sun Kai a doll, both of them reluctant to separate.
Back home, Sun Kai saw his grandfather practicing calligraphy, and felt conflicted. He couldn't find a place to restore the photos, and his grandfather was constantly reminiscing about his old flame, making Sun Kai feel even more guilty towards his family.
Liu Xiu Ying made plans to drink with Jiang Wen, hoping to gauge her and Sun Kai's relationship. Jiang Wen suggested a drinking game, and though Liu Xiu Ying put up a fight, she ultimately lost, drunkenly returning home.
Liu Qi Meng knew her grandmother was doing all this for her and Sun Kai's sake, and she felt quite uneasy about it. The grandmothers had even started learning street dance from Teacher Lu, and were progressing remarkably fast, with Teacher Lu complimenting their natural talent.
When Liu Qi Meng and Zhang Youzhi went to the office, they ran into a big mess - a crowd was gathered outside the company, cursing Wang Yiming's company for plagiarism. Wang Yiming was completely wronged, with no way to defend himself. At a critical moment, Liu Xiu Ying stepped forward and clarified that Zhang Youzhi was the real boss, deflecting the criticism. While Zhang Youzhi was utterly bewildered, Wang Yiming gritted his teeth, determined to uncover the truth.
Right then, Sun Kai pledged that he would find the information leaker within a week, or else he would leave the company. After the meeting, Sun Baifen talked to Liu Qi Meng, suggesting she leave the company to preserve the bigger picture. This left Liu Qi Meng in a real dilemma.
