Episode 18 recap: Liu Xiu Ying's Scooter Dream Comes True
In episode 18, Yu Chang Jiang bought a bunch of fireworks to surprise Liu Xiu Ying with a fireworks display in the evening. However, Old Wang knew that Yu Chang Jiang's health wasn't great, so the celebration was tinged with worry. Meanwhile, Sun Kai went to visit Liu Qi Meng, but ended up getting surrounded by nosy neighbors, which was quite awkward. Luckily, Liu Xiu Ying arrived just in time to rescue her son-in-law from the embarrassing situation.
Laong Laong rode his bike to take Sun Bai Fen back to the office, and they chatted about his decision to give up a high-paying job outside to open a traditional Chinese medicine clinic back home. This was both an act of filial piety towards his grandmother and a desire to help his fellow townspeople improve their health - a truly caring and principled young man, which warmed Sun Bai Fen's heart.
Wang Yi Ming received a scolding call from his sister about demoting his nephew Zhang You Zhi. While grateful for his sister's past kindness, Wang acknowledged that Zhang's abilities were limited, so the demotion was necessary. Upset, Zhang You Zhi ended up quitting the company.
Sun Kai talked to Liu Xiu Ying, wanting to understand the relationship between Liu Qi Meng and Laong Laong. Liu Xiu Ying gave a detailed account of their lifelong bond, sensing that Sun Kai was a bit curious about this relationship.

Liu Qi Meng wanted to buy her grandmother a scooter, which reminded A Fang of Liu Xiu Ying's long-held dream of owning one and taking A Fang for a ride. But this wish had remained unfulfilled due to the costs of Liu Qi Meng's education. Now, Liu Qi Meng was eager to make her grandmother's dream come true. A Fang happily helped select a bright-colored scooter, even though Liu Qi Meng herself didn't particularly like the color.
Thrilled with her new scooter, Liu Xiu Ying wanted to take Liu Qi Meng for a ride, but Liu Qi Meng had other obligations and missed the opportunity. Liu Xiu Ying joyfully rode the scooter back to the office, where she encountered Zhang You Zhi packing up to leave. She quickly encouraged him not to be discouraged by this setback, and to keep his sights set high.
At a company meeting, Wang Yi Ming announced that Zhang You Zhi's vacant position would serve as a reminder to everyone about the importance of character and professional ethics - a decision that received broad support from the staff.
Meanwhile, Liu Qi Meng and her grandmother were diligently rehearsing a dance routine for an upcoming competition. Yu Chang Jiang, for his part, had prepared a large flower arrangement and planned a celebratory gathering for Liu Xiu Ying's performance, but she was more focused on simply enjoying the process with everyone.
A Fang and Liu Qi Meng even went to Old Wang's barbershop to dye their hair and lift their spirits, using A Fang's imported hair dye. When Old Wang returned and saw their handiwork, he was both amused and proud of their independent spirit and courage.
