Episode 1 recap: Xu Mu's Memories of the Cunning Xie Shi
In the first episode, we see Xu Mu being interviewed on the street. When asked what she would say if she saw her secret crush again, she ruefully admits that he probably doesn't even remember her. She then heads off with a small gift. Coincidentally, right after, Xie Shi is interviewed and gives the exact same response as Xu Mu, leading the reporter to joke that if the two met, it would be a perfect match.
Xu Mu then goes on a blind date, where the guy immediately starts talking about marriage, houses, and kids. When a server accidentally spills water, the guy is more concerned about his clothes than the server. Xu Mu quickly ends the date, showing concern for the server instead.
On her way home, Xu Mu chats with her friend Song Nian Nian about their high school classmate. Unbeknownst to them, Xie Shi and his friend Shen Yi overhear, and Xie Shi is stunned to hear Xu Mu say she doesn't recognize him now.
Back home, Xu Mu finds her roommate has trashed the place in a drunken mess. The next day at work, Xu Mu is preparing for an important presentation when her boss, Xie Shi (now known as "Director Jiang"), suddenly shows up. Xu Mu is filled with mixed feelings, recalling Xie Shi's arrival at their high school.
In the presentation, Xie Shi is dissatisfied with the proposal, and calls on Xu Mu to present. Thinking quickly, Xu Mu proposes a new plan that Xie Shi ends up approving. Afterwards, Xu Mu tries to confirm Xie Shi's identity, but he plays dumb. She tells Song Nian Nian, and accidentally projects a photo of Xie Shi onto the big screen during a meeting, causing an awkward moment.
That evening at a dinner hosted by their boss, Xu Mu and Xie Shi are left alone. Xie Shi chivalrously drapes a jacket over Xu Mu when he notices her short skirt, revealing his familiar habit of using his left hand to open cans. Xu Mu tries to test his identity through a quick-fire question game, but doesn't get any conclusive answers.
The next day, Xie Shi invites Xu Mu to an early morning site visit. Xu Mu schemes to test him, but her attempts - like bringing his least favorite red bean bread - don't work. When the cable car they take malfunctions, Xie Shi suggests hiking instead, leaving Xu Mu exhausted and even accidentally ripping off one of his shirt buttons. The most comical moment is when Xu Mu tries to vent to Song Nian Nian via Bluetooth, not realizing Xie Shi can hear it all. As Xu Mu gets increasingly flustered trying to explain, Xie Shi just listens with an amused expression. The awkward yet amusing situation leaves the two's relationship subtly shifting.
