Episode 8 recap: Zhang Yao Recounts His Dark Past
In episode 8, at night, Xu Mu was buried in a pile of illustrations, trying to find inspiration for a new project. She came across Zhang Yao's work and was immediately impressed. The next day in the meeting, Xu Mu enthusiastically recommended Zhang Yao to the team leader, Liao, and everyone agreed that he was a good choice. However, when Fang Jingjing heard that Xu Mu and Zhang Yao were not familiar with each other, she deliberately found fault, claiming she knew an even better illustrator.
After the meeting, it was raining outside. Xu Mu saw a man next to her without an umbrella, so she generously gave him her own, and she and her colleague shared one.
On the other side, Song Nian Nian's novel was well-received by the editor, and the actors were also satisfied. Turns out, she had written about her own experiences with Shen Yi, and it was surprisingly popular.
She called Xu Mu to vent, and Xu Mu was amused, never imagining it could be played that way.
As for Fang Jingjing, since the collaboration didn't work out, she tried to shift the blame to Xu Mu and even wanted to undermine Xu Mu in front of the team leader Liao. Fortunately, Liao was fair and didn't let Fang Jingjing succeed, but Xu Mu still felt responsible.

It was such a coincidence that they unexpectedly met again at the art gallery. Xu Mu handed him the project proposal, and he agreed without even looking at it, saying he trusted Xu Mu.
At home, Xie Shi was waiting for Xu Mu, but Shen Yi showed up instead. Shen Yi said he couldn't sleep, and his words and tone revealed his concern for Song Nian Nian, even though he wouldn't admit it.
After Shen Yi left, Song Nian Nian came to seek inspiration, and Shen Yi became her source of inspiration. The novel became a hit, and everyone asked Song Nian Nian if she was in love, but she could only deny it.
Fang Jingjing intended to boast, but upon learning that Xu Mu had indeed secured Zhang Yao, she was filled with mixed feelings.
Xie Shi also heard about Xu Mu's accomplishment and was happy for her. Xu Mu and Zhang Yao worked well together, even playing role-playing games, which made their colleagues mistakenly think Xu Mu was with Xie Shi. Xie Shi became jealous, intentionally going to pick up Xu Mu, but was upset when he heard her praising Zhang Yao's good looks.
Back home, Xu Mu and Song Nian Nian chatted on the phone, and Song Nian Nian realized she had developed different feelings for Shen Yi. But her reason told her it was impossible. Shen Yi's timely call to invite Song Nian Nian to watch a movie made her extremely excited.
Xu Mu and Xie Shi watched from the side, thinking the two were becoming a great match, and they even deliberately matched them with a couple's outfit, unaware that there were also undercurrents in their own relationship.
