Episode 10 recap: Li Guo Duo Analyzes Chen Wei Lan's Failure
In episode 10, during the second round of competition, Chen Wei Lan and Li Guo Duo teamed up and their coordination was impeccable, like a well-oiled machine. Li Guo Duo's defense was as slippery as an eel, while Chen Wei Lan's spikes were fierce like a descending leopard. In the end, they securely brought home the championship trophy.
As soon as the match ended, the beach volleyball team members rushed en masse to the Big Rich BBQ restaurant to celebrate their hard-won victory. Li Guo Duo officially announced that Big Rich had become the team's head coach, much to everyone's delight. As for the prize money, everyone had their own plans - Big Rich was so overjoyed that he went back to his room to rest early.
Li Guo Duo, on the other hand, returned Shao Nian's share of the prize money to him, feeling at peace about it.
The next day during training, Chen Wei Lan was paired against Gao Ge, and her focus seemed to wander towards Lang Yue Ting. Li Guo Duo asked if her old injury was acting up again, but Chen Wei Lan shook her head and went off to privately study Gao Ge's match videos.
As she reviewed the footage, Chen Wei Lan realized that the camera angle suggested Yang Li Yun was behind the upload. Questioning Yang Li Yun confirmed that she had uploaded the video to make Gao Ge look like a "troublemaker" in Lang Yue Ting's eyes, though the plan backfired.
Just then, Lang Yue Ting passed by and directly stated that she didn't like Gao Ge. Gao Ge, who had been listening nearby, was dejected.
On the way back to campus, Gao Ge surprisingly expressed gratitude to Chen Wei Lan.
During training, Chen Wei Lan continued to mistake Gao Ge for Lang Yue Ting, freezing up at the net. Li Guo Duo worried it was her old injury resurfacing, but Shao Nian analyzed that unless Chen Wei Lan suffered another serious injury, her hand was likely fine and this was just a psychological issue.
Shao Nian also showed Li Guo Duo a spike drawing he had made, which Li Guo Duo loved so much she hung it by her bed.
Another incident occurred when Big Rich was coaching Li Guo Duo on spiking and ended up taking a nasty fall, requiring hospitalization. The diagnosis was gout, and Wang Xiu Yun scolded Big Rich for his careless drinking. Li Guo Duo listened to their bickering outside the hospital room, feeling conflicted.
Shao Nian noticed Li Guo Duo's troubled expression and comforted her, saying the gout wasn't serious. But Li Guo Duo worried about her father's health and fretted about the team being without a coach.
When visiting Big Rich, he reiterated his coaching advice, especially telling Li Guo Duo not to compete with Chen Wei Lan, calling her a promising player.
During a meal, Li Guo Duo reviewed old match videos of Chen Wei Lan and Lang Yue Ting, noticing Chen Wei Lan's spirit would visibly weaken when facing Lang Yue Ting's blocks. Shao Nian analyzed that Lang Yue Ting was Gao Ge's "white moonlight," and the two had a complex history. Li Guo Duo discussed this with Gao Ge, and they concluded that Chen Wei Lan likely had a psychological block when it came to Lang Yue Ting.
