Episode 12 recap: Chen Wei Lan and Li Guo Duo's Cold War, Shao Nian Tries to Mediate
In episode 12, Shao Nian and his group bring Lu Xiao Le to the activity room. As soon as Li Guo Duo sees Lu Xiao Le, her eyes light up and she's overjoyed. Lu Xiao Le, on the other hand, directly introduces himself using Lu Da Xing's name as a front.Xia Li Qiang sees this as a golden opportunity and suggests having a friendly match to let "Coach" Lu get a feel for everyone's level. Lu Xiao Le readily agrees. Before the match, Chen Wei Lan looks at Lu Xiao Le's casual attire and wonders if this coach is too sloppy. Li Guo Duo quickly defuses the situation, explaining that foreign coaches often have a more relaxed style. Chen Wei Lan also curiously asks why Lu Da Xing looks so young, and Gao Ge jokingly says athletes tend to look younger.
During the match, everyone plays their hardest. Afterwards, when Xia Li Qiang asks for Lu Xiao Le's evaluation, his vague comments leave everyone puzzled. They assume he's just being polite since it's their first meeting.
However, Chen Wei Lan is unhappy, feeling that Li Guo Duo keeps refusing to pass to her, preventing the coach from seeing her true abilities. Li Guo Duo explains she's worried about Chen Wei Lan's wrist injury. This sparks an argument between the two, and they end up skipping dinner, storming off separately in a huff.
At dinner, the two are still fuming, and Shao Nian and Gao Ge try to act as mediators. Li Guo Duo explains she was just passing to the open position, not because she doesn't trust Chen Wei Lan. But Chen Wei Lan refuses to listen.
Usually Li Guo Duo would be the first to apologize, but this time she's also stubborn. Desperate, Shao Nian and Gao Ge get Xia Li Qiang to suggest the two have a one-on-one meeting to resolve the issue.
The next day, Chen Wei Lan and Li Guo Duo arrive separately, knowing it's Shao Nian's doing. During the hot pot dinner, Shao Nian tries to liven up the mood by having the straightforward Gao Ge serve Chen Wei Lan, leading to an awkward moment.
After dinner, they go go-karting, with Gao Ge and Shao Nian intentionally going easy to let the girls win. But Chen Wei Lan and Li Guo Duo still ignore each other, with Chen Wei Lan even making some harsh remarks, prompting Li Guo Duo to storm out of the changing room.
Shao Nian rushes to catch up to her, and the tense atmosphere between them is almost palpable, when Tu Ling Ling happens to walk by and starts gloating. She mocks Li Guo Duo for stealing Shao Nian, but Li Guo Duo denies they have that kind of relationship, saying they're no longer friends after Tu Ling Ling abandoned her.
Seeing Li Guo Duo being bullied, Chen Wei Lan steps in to help. Tu Ling Ling retaliates by bringing up Chen Wei Lan's failure to make the national youth team. In the end, the three decide to have a proper showdown the next day.
As for Lu Xiao Le, he's actually an outsider, busy searching online for beach volleyball training materials. Shao Nian specially invites him to be the referee for the next day's match, as Lu Xiao Le is eager to meet the beautiful coach from Ocean University, Tian Qing.
