Episode 29 recap: Shao Nian Helps Secure Sponsorship, Beach Volleyball Team Invites Referees
In Episode 29, Shao Nian catches up to the frustrated Li Guo Duo and explains that he had agreed not to meet her because he wanted to get his mother's approval to sponsor the competition. Along the way, Shao Nian sees Li Guo Duo's dedication to beach volleyball and is eager to help her realize her dream, which would make him even happier than realizing his own wish. Li Guo Duo clarifies that while she also desperately wants to secure sponsorship, she would rather have her dream fall through than achieve it through such means, revealing her feelings for Shao Nian. Shao Nian is overjoyed, and the two finally embrace.
Shao Nian asks a friend to trace the online accounts that were defaming Li Guo Duo, and they find that the accounts were all registered to the same phone number, which Li Guo Duo recognizes. Li Guo Duo arranges to meet Tu Ling Ling at the gym, and Tu Ling Ling initially doesn't want to say much. But after receiving the inquiry information, Tu Ling Ling becomes flustered. Li Guo Duo asks why Tu Ling Ling doesn't want her to successfully organize the new Seven-School League. Tu Ling Ling finally confesses that she doesn't actually like beach volleyball, but has been working hard to win championships because Shao Nian likes it. The defamation campaign was not about the league, but simply out of hatred for Li Guo Duo for taking Shao Nian away. Li Guo Duo scolds Tu Ling Ling for her immaturity, saying her efforts may have been in vain, but Li Guo Duo will still work hard to organize the league and hopes to have an honest competition with Tu Ling Ling. Li Guo Duo also promises not to tell anyone about Tu Ling Ling's defamation.
Tu Ling Ling suddenly feels very disheartened, realizing there is no real rival and that Li Guo Duo is her good friend. Even if she did more, she couldn't change Shao Nian's feelings, so it's better to change her own mindset. Shao Nian explains the significance of the Seven-School League to his mother again, and Dr. Sun says she can sponsor the league and has no issues with Li Guo Duo, only hoping Shao Nian doesn't waste time.
Lu Xiaole learns that a company is willing to sponsor the league and informs Li Guo Duo. The two wait in the beach volleyball court, and see Dr. Sun and her secretary arrive. Li Guo Duo is surprised but carefully introduces everything again. Wen Xin Yang Jingxuan watches from the doorway, and Gao Ge tells her and Dr. Sun about Shao Nian's wealthy family background.
Dr. Sun reviews the proposal again and asks the beach volleyball team to provide a detailed budget. Li Guo Duo is overjoyed, and when Dr. Sun is about to leave, Li Guo Duo runs to her car and says she and Shao Nian have agreed not to meet for a while, to focus on becoming their best selves. Dr. Sun senses the maturity in the two young people and smiles contentedly.
Next, they need to choose a venue, with the ideal being the beach volleyball court at Ocean University, but so far no team has registered there. Lu Xiaole takes this task on herself. Li Guo Duo is responsible for finding referees. Tian Qing asks her colleague Teacher Li to help convince the principal to provide the venue, but Lu Xiaole mistakes their collaboration as a conflict and punches Tian Qing, angering her further.
Li Guo Duo finds many retired beach volleyball referees online and has the team members individually invite them. The most difficult is the highly-rated Coach Guan, but Chen Weilan uses reverse psychology to coax Coach Guan to try an extremely spicy lobster dish, which Gao Ge endures eating despite an allergic reaction.
Seeing the students' determination, Coach Guan agrees to referee. Lu Xiaole invites Tian Qing to dinner in her dorm, intending to confess, but ends up saying the wrong thing and upsets Tian Qing.
