Episode 3 recap: Gao Ge Refuses to Apologize, Chen Wei Lan Steps In to Help
In episode 3, Shao Nian secretly asked Wang Dong, Gao Ge's teacher, to speak on Gao Ge's behalf, hoping it would earn Gao Ge's gratitude. But not only was Gao Ge not appreciative, he scolded Shao Nian for meddling. Shao Nian was puzzled and asked Gao Ge why he had such a bad relationship with Teacher Wang Dong.
Gao Ge bluntly said that if Teacher Wang Dong truly cared about the students, he wouldn't impose such harsh demands that left everyone struggling to catch their breath. Meanwhile, Tu Ling Ling invited Shao Nian to dinner, and they ended up discussing an old incident from their college entrance exam days. Tu Ling Ling frankly admitted that she had disliked Li Guo Duo back then, feeling that Li Guo Duo always hogged the spotlight and called the shots when they hung out.
Shao Nian finally realized that he, as a guy, had never really noticed these petty dynamics between girls. Gao Ge was still adamant about finding a partner to defeat Chen Wei Lan. Shao Nian advised him to be careful, joking that Chen Wei Lan could even beat the talented Long Yue Ting. This only fueled Gao Ge's determination to challenge Chen Wei Lan.
Meanwhile, Xia Li Qiang had also been at odds with Yan Xiao Jing after their brawl in Beijing. Teacher Wang Dong told Gao Ge and Xia Li Qiang that their fight video had gone viral, and the school was prepared to suspend them for six months. Xia Li Qiang quickly apologized and accepted the punishment, but Gao Ge stubbornly insisted the video was maliciously edited and refused to accept the suspension.
Seeing this, Shao Nian went to plead with Teacher Wang Dong again, and eventually got him to agree to cancel the suspension if they submitted a written apology. Shao Nian secretly wrote an apology letter for Gao Ge, but Gao Ge discovered it and became furious, saying it was a matter of principle and he wouldn't compromise.
On the day of the new students' check-in, Shao Nian pushed back his professor's internship arrangement just to pick up Li Guo Duo. When Li Guo Duo moved into the dorm, she was delighted to find that Chen Wei Lan was her roommate. Xia Li Qiang spotted Chen Wei Lan's name on the new volleyball team roster and started plotting to recruit her for the beach volleyball team.
Gao Ge happened to witness this and immediately took down Chen Wei Lan's phone number, going to confront her at the women's dorm. Chen Wei Lan innocently claimed she didn't upload the video, but Gao Ge didn't believe her and demanded she clarify the facts.
Chen Wei Lan couldn't be bothered and quickly immersed herself in the new training. After becoming the women's volleyball team coach, Teacher Wang Dong introduced Chen Wei Lan to the team. The captain Song Xue Wei was quite warm, but Chen Wei Lan's aloof demeanor led some to start gossiping about her being arrogant and hard to get along with.
One veteran player suggested intensifying the training, which the coach readily agreed to. This made some team members start looking at Chen Wei Lan with suspicion, thinking she might have special privileges. After hearing about the feud between Chen Wei Lan and Gao Ge, Xue Wei secretly searched Chen Wei Lan's closet and found an electrical device (which was actually a therapy machine), then immediately reported it to the dorm administrator.
