Episode 35 recap: Guo Duo Li Has Accident on the Way to the Game, Finds Self-Relaxation

In Episode 35, Wang Xiu Yun's rental car was an hour late, and Lu Xiao Le repeatedly urged Li Guo Duo to call and confirm. Luckily, the delay wasn't too long, and the team was able to board the bus and head to the competition city. Before departure, Tian Qing encouraged the Ocean University team members and gave them some final pre-game instructions. To save money, Wang Xiu Yun rented an old car without air conditioning, causing the team members to sweat profusely in the stuffy air. Yang Jing Xuan started feeling carsick, clutching a trash can and vomiting sour liquid. After a while, they had to stop on the side of the road for her to throw up again before continuing on. When they tried to leave, however, the car wouldn't start. Li Da Fu helped inspect it and found the wiring was old, requiring a full repair to diagnose the issue.

Chen Wei Lan remembered the hotel should have a backup vehicle, so she urged Lu Xiao Le to call them. Lu Xiao Le learned through the call that a landslide had blocked the road not far from where they were stranded, so the hotel's car couldn't reach them. The group was anxious, with Li Da Fu continuing to check the wiring as Gao Ge Xia Li Qiang went to flag down passing cars.

By nightfall, they still hadn't found a ride. Luckily, Wang Xiu Yun had prepared a tent and food in advance, so they set up camp as dawn approached. The team then did some basic training together, with Li Da Fu and Wang Xiu Yun preparing dinner. At night, the girls lay in the tent, gazing at the stars and finding it quite romantic. Shao Nian video-called Li Guo Duo, who didn't want him to worry and lied that she was already staying at a starlight hotel. But Shao Nian sensed something was off and pressed her until she admitted they were camping by the roadside.

Doctor Sun saw Shao Nian in a good mood and went to talk to him. She realized her son had his own aspirations and dreams, and as a mother, she could provide an eternal safe haven where he could find rest when feeling fatigued. Shao Nian was relieved his mother finally understood him.

Li Guo Duo helped Wang Xiu Yun tidy up, thanking her for all she had done for the beach volleyball team. Wang Xiu Yun expressed her unwavering support for her husband and daughter. Li Guo Duo then brought Li Da Fu, who had just finished his evening jog, a bottle of water. Li Da Fu apologized for the car breakdown, but Li Guo Duo said it didn't matter if they missed the game, as she and Chen Wei Lan were only freshmen and would have many more opportunities in the future. Li Da Fu was pleased to see his daughter's mature mindset and professional qualities.

Doctor Sun had planned to take Shao Nian to meet a buyer, but Shao Nian canceled the meeting to first stay with Li Guo Duo. The next day, Li Da Fu decided to walk to the competition hotel. When Lang Yue Ting was interviewed about competing with Chen Wei Lan, she displayed a disdainful attitude. Soon, the New Port University team arrived at the hotel, and Lang Yue Ting provoked Chen Wei Lan, who tried to ignore her. However, Li Guo Duo, annoyed by Lang Yue Ting's arrogance, immediately fired back.

During the draw, Li Guo Duo was rushed by Wang Xiu Yun to perform a ritual for good luck, causing her to miss the actual draw. When she hurried to the meeting room, she learned she had been placed in Group A, where she would face Tu Ling Ling. Chen Wei Lan tried to reassure Li Guo Duo, who felt that as a competitor, she had to face any opponent, no matter how strong. The other team members eavesdropping at the door were relieved to see their teammates' composure.

Back in their room, Chen Wei Lan showered first, while Li Guo Duo sat at the door to relax. Tu Ling Ling also went out to unwind, and the two former best friends-turned-rivals chatted casually, feeling grateful for their growth and the chance to still connect despite their competitive relationship.

Tian Qing had prepared the venue and flowers, and urged Lu Xiao Le to propose to her, but he was confused by the lack of romantic build-up.
