Episode 5 recap: Gao Ge Steps Up to Help Chen Wei Lan, Song Xue Wei Makes a Fool of Herself
In episode 5, Yang Jing Xuan was frantically searching for a coach, when she happened to run into Chen Wei Lan who was about to go get dinner. Yang Jing Xuan quickly grabbed Chen Wei Lan and begged her to come help out. Meanwhile, Song Xue Wei was planning to take on Li Guo Duo as well, but Chen Wei Lan suddenly spiked a volleyball that hit Song Xue Wei right in the forehead. Chen Wei Lan then bluffed that she had already reported Song Xue Wei to the school authorities.
Hearing this, Song Xue Wei's face went pale as she quickly let them go. Wen Xin stood by, upset to the point of tears, saying she never wanted to play volleyball again. Li Guo Duo was very impressed by Chen Wei Lan's intervention, but worried she might face backlash from the team later on. However, Chen Wei Lan brushed it off, saying she didn't care what others thought as long as she did the right thing.
At dinner, Gao Ge purposely sat across from Chen Wei Lan, wanting to ask her for help finding the person who posted the video. But Chen Wei Lan didn't want to get involved in that messy situation, so she just moved to another table. Later, when Chen Wei Lan was leaving the cafeteria, Song Xue Wei and her crew ambushed her, wanting to teach her a lesson. Chen Wei Lan couldn't hold her own, but then Gao Ge suddenly rushed out and easily drove them away. He even took off his own jacket to drape over Chen Wei Lan, a truly heartwarming gesture.
Afterward, Gao Ge took the coach to watch the video of Song Xue Wei faking an injury, and the coach immediately suspended Song Xue Wei and reinstated Chen Wei Lan's training privileges. Chen Wei Lan was immensely grateful to Gao Ge.
Back in the dorm, Chen Wei Lan secretly studied Gao Ge's fighting moves, hoping to learn a few tricks. When Li Guo Duo came in, Chen Wei Lan hurriedly turned off her phone and went to take a shower. Song Xue Wei seized the opportunity to steal Chen Wei Lan's clothes, but was caught by Li Guo Duo, who quickly retrieved the clothes and returned them to Chen Wei Lan. Unsatisfied, Song Xue Wei went to cause more trouble, but Chen Wei Lan shoved her into the shower, thoroughly soaking her, and warned her not to bother them again.
After this incident, Chen Wei Lan decided to join the women's beach volleyball team, and brought Wen Xin along. Hearing that Shao Nian was working at a BBQ restaurant, Tao Ling Ling went there pretending to visit Li Guo Duo's parents, but Shao Nian saw through her ploy and told her they could be friends, but not to hurt Li Guo Duo.
When Li Guo Duo excitedly told her parents about Chen Wei Lan joining the beach volleyball team, Li Da Fu was concerned about the gap in their abilities, but still encouraged Li Guo Duo to work hard. Wang Xiu Yun, on the other hand, proudly praised her daughter.
After the new beach volleyball team members joined, they were reorganized into new pairs, with Chen Wei Lan and Yang Jing Xuan on one team, and Wen Xin and Li Guo Duo on the other. Li Da Fu accidentally went to the New Port University's training grounds while making a food delivery, and started grilling skewers on the spot. Seeing this, the anxious Li Guo Duo confronted Song Xue Wei, who claimed the public facilities could be used by anyone. Li Guo Duo then proposed a match, with the loser having to leave, and asked Li Da Fu to be the referee.
In the first set, due to backlighting, Li Da Fu made a mistaken call against Li Guo Duo's team. But in the end, Li Guo Duo's team won the match. Meanwhile, Liang Zi reported that they had found the IP address of the video uploader, but needed to investigate further. Overjoyed, Li Guo Duo invited the entire beach volleyball team to dinner at her house, making sure to give her father Li Da Fu plenty of face.
