Episode 6 recap: Li Guo Duo Reveals Chen Wei Lan's Secret
In episode 6, Li Guo Duo has a nagging feeling about why her father, Li Da Fu, doesn't fully support her basketball aspirations and often pours cold water on her dreams. Deep down, she really wishes she could achieve the same level of success on the court as her father. However, Li Da Fu believes his daughter's physical attributes are not ideally suited for basketball, and even with maximum effort, she may only reach the starting point of others.
When Li Guo Duo hears this, she is deeply hurt and runs out to hide at the doorway. Seeing Li Guo Duo's reaction, Shao Nian feels for her and explains that Li Da Fu is using reverse psychology, and actually cares deeply about her, secretly attending her games to watch.
This helps lift Li Guo Duo's spirits, and she returns home. During dinner, Xia Li Qiang suggests they have some drinks, and a tipsy Li Guo Duo starts rambling. Worried she'll embarrass herself, Li Da Fu quickly ushers her to her room, and everyone disperses.
Still drunk, Li Guo Duo gets into an argument with her father. Fearing she'll get scolded, Shao Nian takes her to his own room. Hearing the commotion upstairs, the concerned Li Da Fu rushes up to check on his daughter, only to find her in tears, which deeply pains him.
Meanwhile, Gao Ge walks Chen Wei Lan back to her dorm, subtly probing about the video incident, claiming there's only one way back to campus. Chen Wei Lan says she's traced the video's origin but can't find the person behind it. Gao Ge also gossips about Lan Yue Ting switching to beach volleyball, but Chen Wei Lan isn't interested.
The next morning, Li Guo Duo wakes up to find Li Da Fu and Shao Nian sleeping on the couch. She learns about the previous night's events. When Li Da Fu brings her a bowl of soup and tells her not to use his name, Li Guo Duo becomes even more playful, just like when she was a child, eliciting a loving gaze from her father.
Later, while doing homework in her dorm, Li Guo Duo accidentally discovers Chen Wei Lan's injury report, realizing she's been training through an injury.
Li Guo Duo was deeply concerned and the next day went to the library to find a pile of books, wanting to help Chen Wei Lan recover from her injury. However, Shao Nian said that Chen Wei Lan was a veteran athlete and knew what she was doing, and if she didn't want help, no one could help her. As they were talking, Xia Li Qiang called and said the school needed to prepare for a friendly match against the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil, and asked Li Guo Duo to get ready.
At first, the school didn't agree, feeling that the beach volleyball team had just been established and didn't have much of a chance. But after Li Guo Duo's persuasion, for the sake of the school's reputation, the department head agreed, but insisted that the most technically skilled player, Chen Wei Lan, had to participate. Chen Wei Lan chose Wen Xin as her partner, and Li Guo Duo, wanting to take care of Chen Wei Lan, suggested she and Yang Jing Xuan partner up for practice.
During practice, Li Guo Duo had Wen Xin focus on passing, but Wen Xin was unhappy about it. Li Guo Duo then had to reveal that Chen Wei Lan had a wrist injury.
After practice, Chen Wei Lan felt something was off, and upon questioning, found out everyone knew about her injury. Back in the dorm, Li Guo Duo apologized, but Chen Wei Lan felt that she had not respected her privacy.
Li Guo Duo was very upset and confided in Shao Nian. Shao Nian went to talk to Chen Wei Lan and said that Li Guo Duo was blaming herself so much that she was considering moving dorms. Although Chen Wei Lan hadn't fully forgiven her, she felt moving dorms was too extreme.
On the day of the match, Wen Xin sprained her ankle waiting for the bus, luckily Li Guo Duo was there and quickly called Shao Nian to take her to the hospital. With Wen Xin absent, Li Guo Duo was prepared to be the substitute. Shao Nian realized Wen Xin's sprain actually wouldn't affect the match, and after questioning, found out Wen Xin had intentionally faked the injury because she had already realized Li Guo Duo was suited for defense and could form an excellent partnership with Chen Wei Lan.
Wen Xin believed that as long as the two of them cooperated well and each played to their strengths, they would definitely win the match.
