Episode 7 recap: Friendly Match Gets off to a Rough Start, Li Guo Duo Analyzes the Reasons
In Episode 7, Li Guo Duo rushed to the competition venue, as the match was about to begin. She told Chen Wei Lan that she wanted to replace Wen Xin and play. Chen Wei Lan and Xia Li Qiang were both taken aback, as the two had never partnered before. But with the situation urgent, Xia Li Qiang could only rally them.
In the first match, their lack of coordination resulted in the team from St. Paul's University gaining a slight lead. In the second match, it got even worse - Chen Wei Lan mistook the opposing player for her former rival Lang Yue Ting, got distracted, and missed a spike opportunity. Li Guo Duo anxiously stomped her feet on the sideline, yelling "Pass the ball!" This finally snapped Chen Wei Lan out of her daze.
Back in the dorms, Gao Ge watched the live broadcast, her heart racing. Throughout the match, Chen Wei Lan's positioning was off multiple times, and the result was predictable - they lost. Xia Li Qiang was very anxious, fearing the school might dissolve the sand volleyball team altogether, given this inauspicious start.
Fortunately, no dissolution notice came, and training had to continue. But days passed, and Chen Wei Lan and Li Guo Duo were nowhere to be seen. Wen Xin was blaming herself, thinking her sprained ankle had caused the team's loss. Xia Li Qiang agreed that their lack of coordination, not technical issues, was the problem.

However, Li Guo Duo smiled, as she started reviewing the match footage, analyzing her own problems. The good news was that Gao Ge had relayed the message - the suspension period had been reduced from long to just three months.
Li Guo Duo then realized Chen Wei Lan's injury report was actually from a year ago, and she had likely recovered long ago. Shao Nian had known but kept it to himself. Annoyed, Li Guo Duo confronted Shao Nian, who explained that Chen Wei Lan didn't want to worry anyone about her injury.
Li Guo Duo's anger subsided. Her main concern was whether she could continue partnering with Chen Wei Lan. But their lack of a coach was the biggest hurdle, as their strengths couldn't be fully utilized. Shao Nian suggested getting Li Da Fu to coach them, but he refused, saying the barbecue shop couldn't do without him.
Li Guo Duo and Chen Wei Lan's training was still plagued with issues, be it fighting over court positions or complaining about each other. Desperate, Li Guo Duo sought Wen Xin's advice, hoping to make Chen Wei Lan understand the importance of coordination.
After training, Chen Wei Lan returned to the dorm, visibly gloomy. Gao Ge followed her in and bluntly pointed out their problems. Chen Wei Lan finally broke down, saying everyone criticized their lack of coordination, but the skill gap was just too much for her to handle.
Meanwhile, Yan Xiao Jing and her roommates saw the Animation Club going to Shanghai for an exhibition, and they also yearned for some club activities. While treating Gao Ge's muscle strain, Shao Nian noticed Gao Ge was secretly practicing during her suspension period. As for why the suspension period had suddenly shortened, Gao Ge refused to say.
Shao Nian went to Li Da Fu again, hoping he would sponsor the club's team-building activities. Li Da Fu was evasive, neither fully agreeing nor refusing. Xia Li Qiang then relayed the news that Lang Yue Ting would be competing in Xingang, and urged Gao Ge to go watch.
