Episode 9 recap: Li Guo Duo Takes Over as Team Captain, Shao Nian Joins the Beach Volleyball Team
In Episode 9, Yang Jing Xuan heard about Gao Ge's preferences and started thinking of ways to get closer to him. She specially prepared some wolfberry water in the volleyball team's activity room, wanting to help Gao Ge cool off, and also thoughtfully provided a bottle for Chen Wei Lan. However, it just so happened that Chen Wei Lan was on her period those days, and after drinking the wolfberry water, her stomach felt uncomfortable, so she squatted on the floor looking for something.
Gao Ge saw this and quickly handed her the wolfberry water that Yang Jing Xuan had prepared. When Yang Jing Xuan walked in, she misunderstood the situation, thinking Gao Ge was interested in Chen Wei Lan. Chen Wei Lan had to tell Gao Ge the truth, that the water was Yang Jing Xuan's kind gesture.
Gao Ge then directly said he's not interested in romance right now, making the situation extremely awkward. After Gao Ge left, Chen Wei Lan quickly apologized to Yang Jing Xuan, but Yang Jing Xuan wasn't angry at all, and was instead captivated by Gao Ge's serious attitude, her heart fluttering.
The beach volleyball team's training began in full swing, but Coach Li Da Fu took an unconventional approach, first giving everyone a theoretical lecture. Li Guo Duo was a bit skeptical, feeling this method was a bit outdated. She negotiated with Coach Li, saying that if the university team achieved good results in the upcoming matches, she would approve of his training methods.
From then on, Li Guo Duo trained harder than anyone else, even staying after school to practice alone. Wang Xiu Yun saw this, and was worried, but was busy with her barbeque shop and couldn't offer much help, only reminding Coach Li not to be too strict. Coach Li noticed that Shao Nian was interested in Li Guo Duo, constantly hovering around her and even skipping his own classes to work part-time at the barbeque shop.
Wang Xiu Yun had a good impression of Shao Nian and thought the two would make a good match. But Coach Li felt the kids were still young, and romance was too early, wanting to keep his daughter by his side a few more years. Meanwhile, Xia Li Qiang was busy with his graduation thesis and preparations, and announced he would reduce his time with the club, handing some responsibilities over to Gao Ge.
As for the beach volleyball team captain position, he planned to give it to Li Guo Duo. When Li Guo Duo heard she would be the new captain, Coach Li rarely showed a satisfied smile, and announced a new training plan. After exams, the training officially began.
Coach Li was extremely strict, and the team members progressed very quickly.

Gao Ge couldn't stand by and watch, saying that book knowledge alone wouldn't work, and he could teach Shao Nian. So Gao Ge became Shao Nian's personal coach, training him daily. Before the training camp started, Coach Li officially announced Shao Nian joining the beach volleyball team. Li Guo Duo was reluctant, but still gave Shao Nian three challenges.
Although nervous, Shao Nian answered them quite naturally. But Li Guo Duo was still unsatisfied, saying theoretical knowledge alone wasn't enough, he needed real skills. She set Shao Nian a goal: pass the test if he could receive three of her serves by the end of the training camp. Shao Nian felt immense pressure, but Gao Ge confidently said he would help him.
The training camp days were grueling, especially for the newbie Shao Nian, who was exhausted like a dog every day. One time he strained a muscle and treated it himself, but accidentally injected in the wrong spot, ending up in the hospital. The doctor said he'd need three months of rest, no intense exercise. Shao Nian panicked, afraid he'd be kicked off the team.
Coach Li thought it over and proposed letting him be an assistant coach and team medic, so he wouldn't have to take the assessment but could still stay on the team.
