Episode 11 recap: Long Life Discovers Yian is the King of Qin
In episode 11, the Imperial Preceptor stayed up all night to pick an auspicious date for the wedding. Lord Lv Jing, who doesn't even like red bean cakes himself, specifically ordered You Yong and You Mou to go buy some to send to Princess Long Life. That night, Long Life's stomach was rumbling, so she dragged Jin Yan to the kitchen to find something to eat, where they happened to run into the chef.
As they chatted, the conversation turned to Prince Qin. Long Life was already prepared for Prince Qin's notorious temper, so no matter how much the chef praised him, she automatically translated it as the opposite in her mind. The chef, being one of Prince Qin's people, was very sharp and noticed Long Life was hungry, so he offered to make her some noodles. Long Life happily ordered soft-boiled eggs, while Jin Yan got his fully cooked.
Meanwhile, King Datang summoned the Imperial Preceptor to the palace and had just started to say he wanted to change the wedding date for Long Life and Prince Qin when the Preceptor cheerfully interrupted, "Your Majesty, don't worry, I already picked the perfect date last night - the 7th of the 7th month, the Hour of the Tiger, great auspiciousness!" Hearing this, the King immediately gave the go-ahead, and they combined the wedding and investiture ceremonies into one grand celebration.
Back in the kitchen, the chefs made the dishes that Lv Jing had instructed, which were Long Life's favorites. After eating her fill, Long Life didn't forget to have Jin Yan gather intelligence on Prince Qin. She herself wrote a letter to Xiaozi Lv and had Shen Xing deliver it. When Xiaozi Lv received the letter, he was delighted and asked Shen Xing to tell Long Life he would come see her after the wedding banquet.
As Long Life reviewed the information Jin Yan had collected, she was shocked - Prince Qin's "exploits" could fill a whole book. At this moment, Yian appeared, and Long Life seized the opportunity to question him about the Prince. Before Yian could even speak, Long Life had already imagined that Prince Qin must have "gone offline", which is why he'd been so quiet lately.
That night, Long Life snuck out in her night clothes, her face covered, to secretly see what kind of person this Prince Qin was. But before she could even see him, the guards caught her in the act. Long Life had to reveal her identity as the Princess, but the guards were bewildered, saying a proper young lady like her shouldn't be sneaking around.
Just as Long Life was fretting, Yian timely appeared, lightly stepping on the water to swiftly come and catch the falling Long Life. Seeing it was Prince Qin, the guards immediately dropped to their knees. Long Life finally realized with a shock that Yian was actually Prince Qin! Remembering how she had secretly criticized him before, her face turned as red as an apple. Lv Jing, who was there, teased her, making Long Life angrily turn and leave.
In the following days, Long Life deliberately avoided Prince Qin, and even You Yong and You Mou were barred from seeing her by Jin Yan and Shen Xing. Lv Jing was very worried, but then heard that Long Life was eating and sleeping well, so he figured she was just waiting for Prince Qin to make the first move.
Lv Jing took the initiative to have a heart-to-heart talk with Long Life, which happened to coincide with Long Life hearing that the wood-salt seedlings were in trouble, making her rush to check on them. Without hesitation, Lv Jing rode a horse to take her to the forest. But when they arrived, they found the seedlings were perfectly fine - it had been a false alarm. Lv Jing took the opportunity to show off, following behind Long Life as she inspected each tree, watering them, and sincerely apologizing. In fact, Lv Jing had hinted in that letter long ago that Yian was Prince Qin, but Long Life hadn't realized it at the time.
Now that the truth was out, although Long Life's mind was in turmoil, her anger had already dissipated - it was just a matter of saving face. Meanwhile, the Princess accidentally dropped her ancient book into the water while bending down to pick it up. Xiaozi Lv happened to be passing by and, thinking she was trying to drown herself, rushed over to pull her back, ending up falling into the water together, a truly comical scene.
