Episode 13 recap: The Scheming Beneath the Surface in the Great Soup
In episode 13, Long Sheng hurriedly made her way to the Woodsalt Forest, with Lv Jing closely following behind. Lv Jing was anxiously seeking Long Sheng's guidance on how to properly care for the delicate Woodsalt seedlings. Long Sheng patiently imparted all of her experience to him. Watching from the side, Xiao Zi Lv was filled with mixed emotions, reflecting back on Lv Jing's words and sighing ruefully that lost opportunities, even if pursued to the ends of the earth, can never be reclaimed.
After tending to the affairs in the forest, Long Sheng and Lv Jing returned to the manor. Long Sheng playfully teased Lv Jing a bit before departing with a smile. However, the next day Long Sheng had unfortunately fallen ill with a cold from getting caught in the rain the previous night. But she stubbornly hid this from Jin Yan and Shen Xing, not wanting to worry Lv Jing.
You Yong, seeing this, knelt on the ground and apologized, feeling remorseful for not properly guarding over Princess Long Sheng. But not only did Lv Jing not blame him, he instead inquired about the reason for Long Sheng's visit the day prior. After hearing You Yong's account, Lv Jing simply smiled faintly and murmured, "Circling the tree thrice, which branch can I depend on?"
Thereafter, he went to check on Long Sheng, finding her already asleep, and gently carried her to the bed. Inadvertently, Lv Jing discovered a small booklet about marital reconciliation under Long Sheng's pillow, which he couldn't help but chuckle at.
Meanwhile, Princess Lv Guan had long been troubled by a chronic cough, but had a particular passion for medicine. She personally took to drying out the damp medical books.
The maid suggested summoning Imperial Physician Yuan, but Lv Guan specifically instructed that Xiao Zi Lv, the physician who had previously saved the fish, also be brought. This Xiao Zi Lv was the special person in Lv Guan's heart.
Upon learning of Long Sheng's illness, Xiao Zi Lv was frantic, but Physician Yuan hurried him to first attend to Princess Lv Guan.
On the way, Physician Yuan revealed to Xiao Zi Lv some of Lv Guan's "difficult" traits - as the Emperor's own sister, she was reclusive in temperament and especially sensitive about marriage, with extremely high standards that intimidated people.
At the Princess's residence, Lv Guan purposely kept only Xiao Zi Lv behind. Lifting the curtain, their eyes met, and Xiao Zi Lv finally realized that the Princess was the same woman who had fallen into the water with him that day.
He quickly composed himself and professionally examined Lv Guan's pulse and massaged her acupressure points. Lv Guan showed him an unusual degree of patience and trust, much to Physician Yuan's surprise.
At the same time, another doctor hurried to treat Long Sheng, with the Crown Prince voicing mild displeasure at the delay. Lv Jing personally tended to Long Sheng, carefully ensuring each dose of medicine was warm.
Xiao Zi Lv also came to visit, and thoughtful Lv Jing placed a handkerchief on the table to avoid direct contact.
After recovering, Long Sheng suddenly realized the little booklet under her pillow was missing, and mustered the courage to discreetly seek out Lv Jing. Just then, an invitation from Empress Dowager De arrived, summoning Long Sheng to the palace.
Knowing Empress Dowager De's prejudices against him, Lv Jing prepared strategies for Long Sheng to handle the situation. In the palace, Long Sheng adeptly navigated the encounter as Lv Jing had instructed, without a slip-up. Soon after, Lv Jing came to escort her out, coincidentally running into Lu Hou and Liu Yi Yi, who despite their pretentious airs, were no match for them.
The true mastermind, however, was the Fifth Prince Lv Ke and his consort Geer, who lurked in the shadows, using Liu Yi Yi as a pawn in a scheme to discredit Long Sheng before the Emperor. They sent people to Fushi to investigate Long Sheng's past, and Geer deliberately revealed Long Sheng's history to Liu Yi Yi, attempting to frame her indirectly.
