Episode 24 recap: Changsheng Leaves, Giving Lv Jing a Sliver of Hope

In Episode 24, although Lv Jing was not fatally wounded by the assassin's weapon, it was laced with poison. Without an antidote, his condition remained perilous. Upon hearing this, the Grand Marshal immediately ordered Chu Ge to be interrogated, determined to extract the antidote from her. Moved by Lv Jing's plight, Changsheng pleaded with the Grand Marshal to let her question Chu Ge alone. Seeing Changsheng's sincerity, the Grand Marshal agreed.

Changsheng began fabricating a story, claiming that Lv Ke had not fled far and that she was the one who had summoned the Imperial Guards. She lied to Chu Ge, saying that if she handed over the antidote, Lv Ke's life would be spared. At first, Chu Ge seemed to believe her, but then realized that the selfish Lv Ke would never risk himself for her. Defiant, Chu Ge refused to reveal the antidote.

Seeing this tactic fail, Changsheng desperately kneeled before Chu Ge, insisting that she and Lv Jing never meant to harm them. But Chu Ge remained unconvinced. The poison afflicting Lv Jing was called "Bitter Winter Dream," a cruel affliction that would torment the victim with nightmares until their death.

After regaining consciousness, Lv Jing's face was as pale as paper, but the two tactfully avoided discussing the matter, instead speaking of happier things. The next day, Lv Jing fell unconscious again, with the Imperial Physician and Xiao Zi Lv searching for a cure. Lv Guan also interrogated Chu Ge, but she remained stubbornly silent.

Lv Guan realized Chu Ge was waiting for Lv Ke, and sure enough, Lv Ke returned, offering to exchange the antidote for Chu Ge's freedom. Seeing Lv Ke, Chu Ge could barely hold back her tears. Lv Ke traded his liberty and the antidote for Chu Ge's life, and she was acquitted.

Lv Ke administered the antidote to Lv Jing, but Lv Jing still coughed up a mouthful of blood, greatly alarming the Imperial Physician. Recalling Guang De's cryptic note, Changsheng felt she might be a jinx. Seeing Lv Jing's precarious state, she decided to leave, hoping to give him a chance at recovery.

Three years later, Lv Jing had fully recovered and become the Regent Prince. But Changsheng had seemingly vanished. Until one day, at a lantern riddle festival, the two unexpectedly reunited. Fate, it seems, works in wondrous ways. In the end, the star-crossed lovers were finally united.
