Episode 4 recap: Lu Jing of the Immortal Clan Falls into a Deep Pit
In episode 4, a group of drunk men for some reason decided to harass Guang De. Luckily, Zhao Huaibi, the guardian angel of Kangcheng, rushed in like a heavenly deity and quickly beat the men into retreat, ensuring Guang De's safety. When Lu Jing arrived, he saw Zhao Huaibi standing there and, without thinking, started berating him, mistaking him for a villain. Guang De quickly explained, and Lu Jing was then embarrassed to realize he had wrongly accused a good person. Afterwards, Guang De even complained to Lu Jing that in the panic of the moment, he had forgotten to ask the hero's name.
Lu Jing was also troubled by his own marriage situation, which had reached an impasse. That's when Lv Jing suddenly said, "Those fated to meet will do so, no matter how far apart." This left Lu Jing baffled, unsure of Lv Jing's intentions. Back at the manor, Lu Jing pondered this, and then had a flash of insight - the answer to the riddle he had previously posed was "where the fated meet." Zhao Huaibi must have figured it out, which is why he said that.
Later, Yang Wulang came to the manor looking for Lv Jing, but left when he found Lv Jing was not there. The glimmer of hope Lu Jing had just felt was quickly extinguished. When Lv Jing returned, Lu Jing gave him the cold shoulder, blaming him for sending Yang Wulang away.
Lu Jing's path to finding a spouse has been rocky, with constant interference. In particular, Xiao Zilv has been spreading rumors about Lu Jing, frightening the men of Fuyu City away whenever they hear Lu Jing's name. Fearing becoming a "leftover woman," Lu Jing decided to take matters into his own hands against the matchmaker Lv Jing. He staged a fake grave and made up stories, hoping to scare Lv Jing away, but Lv Jing was unfazed, almost seeming to enjoy the "performance."
Exasperated, Lu Jing vented to his maids, deciding to first deal with the "traitor" Xiao Zilv. Hearing that people had been recklessly digging pits in the Muyanshu Forest, Lu Jing planned to lure Xiao Zilv there. But unbeknownst to Lu Jing, Zhao Huaijin had just returned to the capital and was responsible for the forest's security. Seizing the opportunity, Lv Jing arranged a "hero rescues damsel" scenario, hoping to get close to Zhao Huaibi.
When Jin Yan went to summon Xiao Zilv, he had already gone to the palace. Lu Jing and Lv Jing went to the forest, where they encountered fake bandits. Lv Jing intended to play the hero, but Lu Jing was no pushover either, and they ended up fighting. In the scuffle, Lu Jing accidentally stepped into a pit, dragging Lv Jing down with him, and Lv Jing twisted his ankle.
As the weather grew colder, Lu Jing passed out from the cold. Lv Jing had no choice but to fire a distress signal. Zhao Huaibi arrived first and rescued the two of them. Lu Jing recognized him as the hero who had saved Guang De.
Zhao Huaibi was displeased with Lu Jing and Lv Jing's nighttime activities in the forest, and decided to keep his distance from Lu Jing going forward. Lu Jing also didn't want to continue arguing with Xiao Zilv, so he returned to the manor. That's when fireworks suddenly went off in the sky - Lu Jing knew Lv Jing had set them off, and silently thanked him. It had been a night of both thrills and awkwardness, leaving Lu Jing feeling as if he had been in a dream.
