Episode 7 recap: Long Sheng and Guang De, Zhao Huai Bi's Heartache
In Episode 7, oh my, Long Sheng and Lv Jing's little incident was purely accidental. Both of their faces were blushing down to their necks. And to make things even more serendipitous, an arrow suddenly came zipping through the air and landed squarely in a vase inscribed with the words "royal marriage." It felt like the heavens were playing a trick on them.
When Long Sheng heard she had to go marry the Qin King, she was really reluctant about it. From what she'd heard, the Qin King dressed like a bear in his wool robes and had a frightening temper, even eating people - the very thought of it gave her the chills.
Lv Jing, with his quick wit, came up with a way to get Long Sheng to face her own feelings. He told her to close her eyes and recall her happiest, funniest, and most moving moments - and see whose face appears. Without hesitation, Long Sheng said it was Lv Jing's, but then quickly backtracked, urging him to leave, afraid he'd see through her.
Long Sheng was also puzzled herself - why was it Lv Jing? Her reputation in the Fishing Terrace wasn't great, and her love life had been tumultuous. Now suddenly she had to marry, and she wanted no part of it. Her previous interactions with Shen Lai, Yang Wu Lang, and the others were just her trying to avoid this marriage arrangement - in the end, it was just desperation.
Lv Jing's words had made Long Sheng realize her own heart, but she also understood that as an emissary and a bride-to-be, they had no future together. She could only bury these feelings deep inside.
The next day, Long Sheng went to the wood salt forest to clear her mind, and Lv Jing insisted on going with her. The two of them collected salt, watched the boiling rooms, and made dough together, having a wonderful time and momentarily forgetting their troubles.
On the other side, Princess Guang De was heartbroken over Zhao Huai Bi's situation. As for Xiao Jin, she was a bit gloomy because of Long Sheng's situation, feeling that Long Sheng had distanced herself. Long Sheng proactively went to explain to Xiao Jin, who was a bit embarrassed. Long Sheng didn't blame her, knowing she was doing it for Xiao Zi Lv's sake. Long Sheng then confirmed with Zhao Huai Bi about the marriage proposal, and Zhao Huai Bi said it was true.
In a fit of anger, Long Sheng threw all the gifts she had given Zhao Huai Bi into the charcoal brazier. Zhao Huai Bi didn't stop her, but when he saw Long Sheng about to throw away Guang De's gifts, he snatched them back urgently. Long Sheng finally understood everything then. She encouraged Zhao Huai Bi to go seek the Emperor's blessing to marry Guang De, and he went without hesitation.
When Guang De heard the news, she could hardly believe her ears.
Although Long Sheng was deeply hurt, her kind heart didn't want to ruin Zhao Huai Bi and Guang De's relationship, so she resolved to shoulder the burden of the royal marriage herself. She was scared and regretful, but knew there was no turning back now.
