Episode 1 recap: Ji Yu Heng Helps Xiao Ning Overcome Difficulties
In the first episode, Tu Xiao Ning was being pressured by her family to go on blind dates. Reluctantly, she went to the matchmaking event and received a little teddy bear, which was supposed to bring her good luck in love. As Xiao Ning was approaching her thirties, her family was getting increasingly anxious, but she knew that finding the right partner was not as easy as just matching shoe sizes - you had to click with the person.
The event staff seated Xiao Ning, and one man after another came to try their luck. Unfortunately, none of them were able to pique Xiao Ning's interest. She couldn't help but think to herself, "Why is finding this 'lucky match' harder than winning the lottery?" She politely turned them all down.
Just as Xiao Ning was about to leave, the handsome Ji Yu Heng sat down across from her. He glanced at the teddy bear on the table but didn't say much, though there was a gentle warmth in his gaze. As they were chatting, another woman tried to interject, clearly interested in Ji Yu Heng. But he gracefully declined, saying he needed more time to consider. Xiao Ning didn't think much of it and left.
Guess what happened next? Ji Yu Heng actually chased after Xiao Ning and gave her the big teddy bear. This gesture instantly broke the ice and erased any lingering sense of unfamiliarity between them.
Even more coincidentally, Tu Xiao Ning and Ji Yu Heng turned out to be colleagues, working at the same bank. Xiao Ning suggested exchanging WeChat, and Ji Yu Heng readily agreed. When they went out to eat, they even insisted on going Dutch. Though this blind date was unorthodox, it had a certain charm to it.
On her way home, Xiao Ning shared the strange blind date experience with her best friend Ling Wei Yi, even mentioning that Ji Yu Heng was her high school classmate. But just then, Xiao Ning's electric scooter broke down midway. In a moment of crisis, Ji Yu Heng happened to pass by and came to her rescue. When Xiao Ning called for help, her friend Ling Wei Yi's encouraging shouts could be heard loud and clear, which was slightly embarrassing but also very heartwarming.
Later, Xiao Ning learned that Ji Yu Heng was actually the blind date candidate hand-picked by her own mother. Their fated encounter was almost straight out of a television drama.
At the bank, Xiao Ning was constantly busy, while Ji Yu Heng was shining in his career, exposing a high-level manager's abuse of power. He was practically a real-life superhero. As for Xiao Ning, her efforts to get a permanent position were in vain, as connections and resources trumped her hard work. She felt utterly frustrated.
Why was she in such a hurry to get a permanent position and go on blind dates? It was simply because she wanted a stable life.
When Xiao Ning went to the headquarters to handle her resignation paperwork, she encountered the picky manager Rao Jing, who refused to let her leave. Although Rao Jing was demanding, Xiao Ning's quick thinking impressed her, and she insisted on keeping Xiao Ning to help out. This resignation process turned out to be full of twists and turns.
On the weekend, Xiao Ning decided to attend her friend's singles party to unwind. The groom was Ji Yu Heng's friend, and though Ji Yu Heng initially had no plans to go, he immediately changed his mind when he heard that Xiao Ning would be there. Xiao Ning and her best friend Ling Wei Yi went shopping for a gift, and they even discussed Ling Wei Yi's failed romance, leaving Xiao Ning with mixed feelings.
At the party, Ji Yu Heng looked devastatingly handsome, and even Ling Wei Yi's ex-boyfriend, Lu Si Jing, showed up and was introduced to Ji Yu Heng. Lu Si Jing brought flowers, hoping to reconcile with Xiao Ning, but she firmly rejected him, straight to the point. Just then, Ji Yu Heng handed Xiao Ning a rose, coming to her rescue. Facing Ji Yu Heng's kindness, Xiao Ning calmly said, "Let's just let the past be the past. Let's all be more mature and avoid awkwardness."
This whole scene was simply more thrilling than a movie.
