Episode 3 recap: Tu Xiao Ning's Drunken Stay at Ji Yu Heng's House
In Episode 3, Tu Xiao Ning took Ji Yu Heng home, and as soon as they walked through the door, she announced that they were getting married the next day, shocking her parents. These days, sudden marriages are not uncommon, but her parents still hoped the two would have some emotional foundation and not rush into things. Ji Yu Heng then honestly explained that he had been attracted to Xiao Ning since high school.
Xiao Ning was quick-witted too, and said she had secretly liked him for years. Ji Yu Heng tried to hold back his laughter, and the two were in perfect sync. Seeing that the young couple's minds were made up, the parents happily agreed to the match.
Eager to strike while the iron was hot, the two rushed to the civil affairs bureau to apply for their marriage license that same afternoon. However, they forgot to bring photos, causing a minor awkwardness. But the clever pair quickly went to a photo studio to take mock ID photos, allowing them to complete the paperwork, though they couldn't finish everything that day and had to return another time.
Back home, a large group of relatives had already gathered, making it as lively as the Lunar New Year. To avoid disappointing the mother, the couple discreetly didn't mention they hadn't actually gotten the license yet.
Ji Yu Heng was very adept at handling things - he quickly bonded with the family, entertaining Xiao Ning's parents and even receiving a big red envelope. Her father even privately shared tips for being a good husband, while her mother lavished praise on Ji Yu Heng, saying Xiao Ning had found a wonderful partner.
Xiao Ning was deeply grateful, feeling Ji Yu Heng was incredibly capable. She herself was still adjusting to the sudden role change, but Ji Yu Heng thoughtfully said he would give her some space and time to adapt. He watched Xiao Ning go upstairs until he saw the light in her room turn on before leaving, his heart full of hope for their future life together.
That night, back home, Ji Yu Heng looked at the photo they hadn't yet received for their marriage certificate, feeling warmth in his heart. This was the start of their new life together, and their first official joint photo.
Meanwhile, Xiao Ning was busy going with Rao Jing to see a client, having to cancel their dinner date. When Ji Yu Heng ran into her in the elevator, he sounded a bit emotional, but Xiao Ning insisted on meeting the client, saying it was a good chance to challenge herself.
At the evening event, the professional Xiao Ning had the client wrapped around her finger. Afterwards, she and the tipsy Rao Jing even shared some workplace tips. Though Xiao Ning claimed to have a good alcohol tolerance, in the end she still needed Rao Jing's support to get out.
Luckily, Ji Yu Heng promptly showed up, not waiting for Rao Jing's approval before helping the drowsy Xiao Ning into the car. Her incoherent rambling made Ji Yu Heng feel a mix of frustration and amusement.
When dropping her off, Xiao Ning realized she had forgotten her keys, so Ji Yu Heng had to take her back to his place. This unexpected night turned out to be a good opportunity for their relationship to deepen. Waking up the next day in Ji Yu Heng's bed, Xiao Ning felt rather flustered, but Ji Yu Heng had already thoughtfully prepared water by the bedside and gotten her luggage and pajamas, making her feel very cared for. Seeing the keys on the table also put her mind at ease.
At the office, the vacancy for the expansion department manager became a hot topic, with word that an outsider would be brought in. While sharing a meal with a colleague, Xiao Ning ran into Ji Yu Heng, but due to company policy, they had to pretend not to know each other. However, Ji Yu Heng had already openly shared his assets and their past with Xiao Ning's parents, though he hadn't yet had a chance to discuss those deeper emotions with her. With her parents' understanding and support, Xiao Ning's determination to walk this path with Ji Yu Heng was further strengthened.
