Episode 7 recap: Qi Yu Continues to Pursue Ling Wei Yi
In the 7th episode, Tu Xiao Ning is amused by her father's quirky interaction with the fish in the fish tank, which is actually his way of reminding her to go back to Ji Yu Heng. As soon as she steps out the door, Ji Yu Heng is there, smiling and saying he wants to have a serious talk with her.
Tu Xiao Ning readily agrees, and they decide to discuss it further when they get home. At home, Ji Yu Heng explains the bank's handling of the Zhao Fang Gang issue, and admits that he had been secretly helping Zhao Fang Gang by having him punch in. Hearing this, Tu Xiao Ning is enlightened, but jokingly says she hopes he'll be more direct in the future. They clear up the misunderstanding, and Tu Xiao Ning reassures him that she won't give up on their relationship easily, which relieves both their families.
After that, Tu Xiao Ning and Ji Yu Heng become like the "parents" of their little "fish", bringing more warmth to their home and a sense of responsibility for the young life. Though Ji Yu Heng is busy with meetings at work, he is pleased to see the changes in Zhao Fang Gang. He wants to give Zhao Fang Gang a chance by putting him in charge of a project, but Zhao Fang Gang unexpectedly declines, creating an awkward moment. Tu Xiao Ning discreetly texts Ji Yu Heng, suggesting he try a different communication approach, which might work.
At work, Tu Xiao Ning accidentally praises Ji Yu Heng in front of her colleagues, nearly tipping off Rao Jing and Zhao Fang Gang. She quickly steers the conversation towards the upcoming performance review, diffusing the situation. In her free time, Tu Xiao Ning shares her daily life with her best friend Ling Wei Yi and receives an invitation from Qi Yu for a gathering. At the gathering, Ling Wei Yi is still blunt with Qi Yu, while the unexpected appearance of Lusi Jing creates a delicate atmosphere. Tu Xiao Ning knows that the past is the past and there's no going back.
Meanwhile, while fishing with his mentor, Ji Yu Heng reflects on the bank manager's words - teamwork is the key to success, not going it alone. He recalls that Tu Xiao Ning had once said the same thing, and he feels a deep connection with her.
At the gathering, a slightly tipsy but lucid Ling Wei Yi vents her emotions, and her tears flow freely when Qi Yu arrives. Tu Xiao Ning comforts her, and the two friends share their romantic experiences, both sweet and bitter. Tu Xiao Ning empathizes and also shares her own happy moments with Ji Yu Heng.
After waking up at Ling Wei Yi's place, Tu Xiao Ning sees Ji Yu Heng's message and is surprised to find him waiting downstairs. On their way home, they chat and Ji Yu Heng inquires about Tu Xiao Ning's colleagues, which she happily introduces. In the evening, their laughter and conversation blend together, painting a warm and beautiful picture of their relationship. Both are filled with hope and anticipation for the future.
