Episode 9 recap: Tu Xiao Ning and Ji Yu Heng's Sweet Embrace
In Episode 9, Tu Xiao Ning and Ling Wei Yi were about to leave with Ji Yu Heng, when Lu Si Jing and Qi Yu suddenly showed up. Lu Si Jing came to apologize, reminding Tu Xiao Ning of their past. She felt nostalgic about their youthful memories, but those feelings were long gone, and she no longer had any special feelings for Lu Si Jing.
Ji Yu Heng was a bit nervous at first, but he soon relaxed. Tu Xiao Ning didn't answer Lu Si Jing's question about who she liked, and just left with her friends. As Ji Yu Heng was leaving, he glanced back at Lu Si Jing.
On the way home, the atmosphere between Tu Xiao Ning and Ji Yu Heng was a bit awkward in the car. Tu Xiao Ning admitted that the flowers were actually from Lu Si Jing, who kept calling nonstop, even though she hung up on him multiple times. Ji Yu Heng put the call on speakerphone so he could listen, feeling a bit uncomfortable. What Lu Si Jing said only made Ji Yu Heng more uneasy, so he simply stopped the car and directly kissed Tu Xiao Ning - a bold move he had been mustering the courage for. Tu Xiao Ning didn't refuse, and instead responded tenderly.
Afterwards, Tu Xiao Ning comforted Ji Yu Heng, telling him not to take it to heart.
Meanwhile, Zhao Fang Gang just won Employee of the Quarter, and everyone was happy for him. Rao Jing briefly encouraged him before sending him back to work. Ji Yu Heng then arrived, and Zhao Fang Gang took the opportunity to thank Ji Yu Heng for his guidance.
On the other side, Lu Si Jing's calls were still causing disruptions. Rao Jing noticed and brought up their potential future cooperation, implying she might need his help again. Sure enough, there was an issue with the bank system, so Rao Jing and Tu Xiao Ning rushed to the hospital to handle it. Tu Xiao Ning worked efficiently and ensured the patients' medication wasn't delayed.
After resolving the problem, Rao Jing and Tu Xiao Ning were about to leave when they ran into Lu Si Jing, and Rao Jing thanked him for the assistance. Lu Si Jing then asked to speak with Tu Xiao Ning alone, and she agreed since her shift was almost over.
Tu Xiao Ning told Ji Yu Heng about meeting with Lu Si Jing, and they met at a cafe. Lu Si Jing remembered Tu Xiao Ning's preferences, but the past hurt wasn't easily forgiven. He explained it was due to the overseas pressure, but Tu Xiao Ning was firm, saying their seven-year relationship was over. She told Lu Si Jing that she now likes Ji Yu Heng, but they're keeping it low-profile due to the company's no-office-romance policy. After saying this, Tu Xiao Ning left.
Outside, she ran into Ji Yu Heng, feeling warm and fuzzy inside. She promised to resolve the past issues, then they went to have dinner together. On the way, Tu Xiao Ning reminisced about Ji Yu Heng's days as the school heartthrob, and said they seem so perfect for each other now. Ji Yu Heng shyly agreed they get along wonderfully, and suggested visiting their old school.
At the school gate, Ji Yu Heng wanted to go in, secretly hoping to confess, but got sidetracked by Tu Xiao Ning's words. It turned out Ji Yu Heng had secretly liked Tu Xiao Ning since high school, a love he had hidden for ten years. They exchanged a knowing smile, needing no words.
Later, Tu Xiao Ning and Ji Yu Heng set some ground rules - work is work, and romance is romance. Ji Yu Heng even entrusted Tu Xiao Ning with full financial control at home, showing great trust in her. On the weekend, they went camping together. Ji Yu Heng played the guitar while Tu Xiao Ning listened, and they set up the tent, sipped coffee, grilled meat, and drank - a truly cozy scene.
At night, Ji Yu Heng kissed Tu Xiao Ning again, though they were briefly interrupted. When it was time to sleep, they shared a sleeping bag, and Ji Yu Heng carefully tucked Tu Xiao Ning in. The next morning, Tu Xiao Ning was shyly flustered remembering the kiss, quickly leaving Ji Yu Heng behind, who just smiled contentedly as the whole place was filled with a sweet atmosphere.
