Episode 12 recap: The Murder of David Jiao

In episode 12, Awei actually wanted to persuade Yu Xingbai to give up on finding Baoying, but seeing that the other person was still determined, he didn't know what else to say. In fact, these two people were able to get along because they had similar traits - they were both equally stubborn. Awei told Yu Xingbai that Aya had also owed some money, and then those people came looking for her and she disappeared.

There was a very flamboyantly dressed girl who, while being yelled at, slyly gave a card to a child and asked the child to give it to Yu Xingbai. Yu Xingbai was stunned when he received the card. David Jiao was about to be released from prison, and everyone was strongly opposed to his release. A news anchor even tried to incite people to reject this bad person, fearing he would endanger society again.

When David Jiao came out, he saw a lot of people chasing after him, his face expressionless. However, behind the crowd, there was someone staring with eyes full of hatred. Yu Xingbai just happened to see the news and became pensive. Fanpei Qing heard her friend was very worried about Jiao causing trouble when released, but Fanpei Qing felt it wasn't that scary, thinking her friend was being overly pessimistic.

Fanpei Qing felt people who made mistakes should be given a chance to correct themselves. Yu Xingbai met up with Fanpei Qing and mentioned the case from 15 years ago, which was the first case he worked on, and now the perpetrator was being released.

Time passed quickly. Yu Xingbai found Ruby, asking if Jiao being released posed a danger. Ruby felt guiding public opinion to reject the criminal was wrong, but if people let their guard down, the evil person could commit crimes again, which would be terrible. Jiao was now working near a kindergarten, which made Ruby very afraid the past events could repeat.

When Yu Xingbai met with Jiao, he saw the man had been humbled. Yu Xingbai suddenly felt society had been too harsh on Jiao, not giving him a chance to redeem himself. Jiao knelt before Yu Xingbai, saying he was trying to reform, and pleading for a chance. A parent was about to throw acid at Jiao, but left when Ruby noticed. Everyone was fearful something bad might happen. Jiao looked at the children nearby with a fierce expression.

Yu Xingbai was assigned a murder case involving a victim stabbed with a knife. When he arrived at the scene, he was shocked to find the victim was David Jiao, the same person Ruby was looking for. Based on the crime scene details, Yu Xingbai and Fanpei Qing deduced the killer did not use the knives found at the scene, but rather a very sharp weapon.

At the scene, Yu Xingbai noticed the victim's line of sight, suggesting there may have been a third person present. Ruby felt guilty seeing Haige's photo, thinking if someone had been watching him, this wouldn't have happened. Haige had actually been to the knife store before, but they didn't notice him.

Fanpei Qing told her friend not to feel too guilty, as a third person was likely the real killer. Yu Xingbai felt the killer might have mental issues. The police used forensic techniques to reconstruct the crime scene.

Yu Xingbai thought Jiao may have tried to catch the killer to prevent further harm. Jinghaorang searched for surveillance footage but the killer was cautious and covered their face. Fangyaohai and Jiao had a deep-rooted enmity, but this time no one wanted to believe Jiao was innocent.

Jinghaorang spoke to Ruby to understand the situation before the incident. Jiao's mother was eagerly awaiting his release from prison to see him. Seeing this, Jinghaorang felt uneasy. Lishuquan was killed, and his wife was seriously injured in the hospital.

The wife said her husband had a manager position and had no enemies, so she didn't understand why this good person was treated this way.
