Episode 16 recap: Nana Fights Back Against the Li Family
In Episode 16, Li Yue tries to hire someone to kill Nana, but the plan fails. When she arrives at her mother's office, she is harshly reprimanded. Her mother scolds her for wasting 50,000 yuan on incompetent people and emphasizes that she only cares about results. She says she's willing to spend more money to get the job done. Li Yue quickly apologizes and agrees with her mother, promising to take action that night.
Back at the company, Li Yue is furious that she spent 5 million yuan to hire a hitman, only to find out he was a cheap 50,000 yuan killer who botched the job. She's worried that the police are now aware of their next move and will be more difficult to evade. When her subordinates assure her that the police won't find them, she still feels the situation is out of control and orders them to eliminate any loose ends, including those in the hospital.
Jing Hao Ran informs his team that the real target was Nana, not the people who were attacked. They believe that someone is trying to force Nana to have an abortion because she is carrying Li's child. They've tried to create several accidents, but Nana has been lucky enough to avoid them. Now, the person behind these attempts is getting desperate and has hired someone to kill her.
The police suspect Yin Luo Xin and find him trying to commit suicide by opening a gas tank and taking sleeping pills. He is rushed to the hospital. His fingerprints are found at the lumber mill, matching those left at the scene of Nana's attack. However, there is no apparent connection between them, leading Detective Wang Jing to believe that the person who hired the killer is hiding something.
Fan Pei Qing carefully examines the body of the deceased and discovers that the victim had showered before their death, suggesting they deliberately cleaned themselves to remove any fingerprints. Jing Hao Ran tries to trace the money used to bribe Yin Luo Xin, but finds that he deposited a large sum of cash into his account, indicating the person who hired him is very cautious.
Fan Pei Qing finds no useful information on the killer, not even any fingerprints from other people. Yu Xing Bai decides to investigate Yin Luo Xin's house further. Nana, furious after learning about the deaths of the mother and daughter, runs into Yu Xing Bai and accuses the Li family. When he doesn't seem to take her seriously, she decides to confront Li Qi herself, but the encounter ends without any results.
Nana enlists Yu Xing Bai's brother-in-law to hack into your family's computer to send a warning. She asks Yu Xing Bai for help, but he's hesitant. Nana proposes a press conference to warn them, and Yu Xing Bai reluctantly agrees to cooperate.
Li Yue sees the news and blames herself, saying that if she hadn't done what she did, the woman wouldn't have held a press conference to accuse them. Xian Yang believes that A Ying is not suited for her job. Fan Pei Qing is about to visit a friend when she stumbles upon another murder scene. The victim has been stabbed multiple times with needles, making the scene gruesome. The fatal wound is a puncture in the neck, but the killer seems to have tried to lessen their guilt by drawing a cross on the victim's body.
Nana guesses that Yu Xing Bai's brother-in-law helped her and invites him out to dinner as a thank you. Yu Xing Bai realizes that the killer must have medical knowledge and has carefully erased all fingerprints. Wen Le De, a notorious womanizer, is found dead, and everyone agrees he got what he deserved.
Fan Pei Qing notices that A Ying is acting strangely and refuses to see anyone. Xian Yang calls Fan Pei Qing to tell her that some needles are missing from the hospital and suspects someone stole them. When A Ying learns that someone is going to report her, she stabs Xian Yang with a needle. Fan Pei Qing arrives just in time to witness the incident.
A Ying has been struggling with eczema for over 20 years due to her weak immune system. She has been mocked and ridiculed, and her mental state has been deteriorating. She is deeply resentful that her father, a doctor, couldn't give her a healthy body.
