Episode 22 recap: Nika was furious when he learned about the deal and wanted to confront Wei Sang
Vayi stopped him, arguing that the police couldn’t just arrest someone without evidence, especially since Wei Sang had already been suspended Zheng Wei Long felt they couldn’t compromise or betray their friend, but Jeffrey worried they would lose everything if they didn’t agree
Li Chun Hua arrived and was surprised to find Zheng Wei Long and Li Zhang Huan arguing. Zheng Wei Long explained that Li Zhi Wei wasn’t the same person they knew anymore, but Li Chun Hua insisted they needed to solve the problem regardless. Jeffrey urged Li Zhi Wei to accept the terms, suggesting they sign the contract the next day.
Li Zhi Wei went to the Wei Sang tribe to sign the contract, only to find Wei Sang had invited a group of reporters. Wei Sang insisted on a fair, transparent process and wanted the reporters to document everything. Zheng Wei Long was furious, but Li Zhi Wei said Li Zhang Huan had already agreed to the deal. Zheng Wei Long was shocked and couldn’t believe it.
Li Zhang Huan arrived and confirmed he knew about the agreement. He said he would have agreed to it himself if he were in Li Zhi Wei’s shoes. Zheng Wei Long was stunned and questioned Li Zhang Huan’s decision, accusing him of betraying their friend. Li Zhang Huan explained that their goal was to promote mushrooms in Bamala, and they would have gone to the Wei Sang tribe anyway, even without this deal.
Li Zhang Huan spoke to Li Zhi Wei, acknowledging that the situation was his fault. Li Zhang Huan reassured him, saying it wasn’t his fault and that he should be strong for the team, leaving the burden on himself and showing generosity to Zheng Wei Long.
Li Zhi Wei agreed. Li Zhang Huan and Zhao Qi Feng went to inspect the land and noticed a plot of land on the border between two tribes, with each tribe claiming half. Li Zhang Huan realized that the conflict stemmed from hunger. He believed mushrooms were just a side dish, not a staple food, and decided to plant rice on that land.
Li Zhang Huan called Nika and Wei Sang over. Zheng Wei Long and his team were discussing the situation, thinking that this was probably the first time they were all eating at the same table. Both Nika and Wei Sang were unhappy to see each other. Li Zhang Huan explained his idea, saying that the conditions weren't suitable for growing regular rice, but they could plant drought-resistant rice.
Li Zhang Huan stated that they would honor the agreement they signed, but they wanted to trade the drought-resistant rice with Wei Sang in exchange for continuing to promote mushrooms in Nika's tribe. Wei Sang agreed, and both Wei Sang and Nika consented to letting Li Zhang Huan experiment with the land. Zheng Wei Long and his team were surprised to hear that Li Zhang Huan wanted to grow rice.
Li Zhang Huan believed they should try it and asked Li Han to conduct the experiment. Li Han had studied seed science and only joined the Mycelia Institute because of Li Zhang Huan. Li Han and his team conducted the experiment, and the rice did grow, but the yield was too low. They needed to continue experimenting.
Li Zhi Wei told Jeffrey about the situation. Jeffrey expressed concern about their limited patience and funds. Li Zhi Wei assured him that the team would find a solution soon. Yu Jiang was currently helping Li Zhang Huan. Li Zhang Huan told Yu Jiang that he should start looking for a job after this busy period.
Yu Jiang said that he had grown fond of Mycelia and wanted to stay and continue working. Li Zhang Huan explained that he had sacrificed a lot for his family because of Mycelia, and he didn't want Li Qian Ping to have to do the same. Li Zhang Huan urged Yu Jiang to think carefully about his decision.
