Episode 5 recap: Li Zhang Huan and the Others Commence Their Work

In episode 5, the group finds that there is nothing here, so they can only eat the instant noodles they brought with them for now. Li Zhang Huan wrote a letter to his wife, expressing that this place is very different from their home, and they need to quickly adapt and start growing their own food here. There is nothing available, so Zheng Wei Long made a list for Wai, asking where they can buy these items. Wai said that many things are not available here, and if they want to make phone calls, they'll need to go to the market.

Li Zhang Huan had Li Chun Hua and Li Han go check out the land to see where they can plant their crops. When Li Chun Hua and Li Han arrived, Wai said his father had prepared a big meal for them all to eat. Li Chun Hua and Li Han found the land to be lush and suitable for their needs.

Li Chun Hua told Li Han to hurry back, as there was a big meal waiting and he should be more enthusiastic about eating. Wai's father had prepared a lot of food for Li Zhang Huan and the others, who ate happily. However, Li Zhang Huan's group had many differences with the local people, such as the belief that you should not touch a child's head.

When Li Zhang Huan and the others played with the children and touched their heads, the locals became very upset. Wai told them that locally, touching a child's head is believed to take their soul. Li Zhang Huan quickly apologized. Li Zhang Huan wanted to take a photo, and asked Wai first, who said they had no objections.

Zheng Wei Long's group finally made it to the market, where they were able to find a phone to call back home. Li Han was able to let his girlfriend know he was safe.

The most common local food is called cassava porridge, which is eaten by hand. Wai found Nora to come and cook for Li Zhang Huan's group, and in the evening they had the cassava porridge. Li Chun Hua and the others felt this meal was very different from the one they had earlier in the day.

The Visang tribe people were talking about Li Zhang Huan's group, feeling that they probably don't genuinely want to help for free, and are trying to find out what their real purpose is. They suspect the Nica tribe may be using Li Zhang Huan's group to further their own interests.

When Li Zhang Huan's group went to start working, they found the land had a lot of grass on the surface but was full of stones underneath, not suitable for their needs. Zheng Wei Long got very angry, feeling the project was being delayed, and wondered if he could handle the responsibility. Li Zhang Huan stopped them from arguing, saying they can't be fighting now if they want to get the work done. Li Zhang Huan told Li Chun Hua and Li Han not to let it happen again, and said they need to find a new piece of land quickly.

Zheng Wei Long was still angry. Li Han called his girlfriend, saying his uncle had told him it won't happen again and he'll be more careful. Li Chun Hua found they were eating potatoes again, and told Nora the food wasn't good, asking her to teach some Chinese cooking instead. Nora agreed, realizing she could learn Chinese cooking for free.

Li Chun Hua told Nora not to always have a straight face, and that she looked nice when she smiled. Li Han translated this as saying Nora's smile was beautiful and Li Chun Hua would pay for it. Nora smiled a few times and asked Li Chun Hua to pay, confusing him since she was always asking for money.

The hot water heater was installed, so Li Han could take a hot shower, but the water ran out halfway through. Nora explained the water came from a landlord, and if they wanted to use it, they'd have to buy it from him. Li Han's group followed Nora to the landlord's place and after negotiation, ended up paying a good amount of money for the water.
